You should also use insulated tools when working on your battery. I always wrap my tools with electrical tape so that only the working end of the tool is exposed. This has saved me a lot of trouble on several occasions.

One question I would ask is, should batteries be of the same type? I'm talking about voltage, amperage, capacity...etc.
@Sylvan_dB4 жыл бұрын
Usually for my initial voltage check, I would just poke the probes thru the tape. Keep the terminals covered as much as possible for as long as possible.
@OffGridGarageAustralia4 жыл бұрын
That's what I did. I now have little holes on top of the terminals which I need to sand down again before connecting the busbars.

One other safety tip when working with things that go zappity zap zap is to remove rings and watches to remove chances of creating a contact.

I don’t recall any comments on the terminals. 1-any concerns with dis-similar materials 2-are you using bolts or have you considered studs for the bus bar / wiring connections. I have 8 - 280 ah batteries on the way from China. Just trying to be ready and considering the possibilities for my RV.

good info on your videos, I will be soon pushing a similar box as I bought 4x200ah aluminium case cells to make a 12v leisure battery for my landrover on which I have 360w solar panels :) and also a Daly bms 250A, exciting days ahead :D
@OffGridGarageAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Sounds great! Let us know how you go with that. Will you use an inverter too or just the 12V system?
@bluex484 жыл бұрын
@@OffGridGarageAustralia have no need for a inverter so will just be a 12v setup. I'm using redarc 12v bcdc1240d charger and a victron bmv-712 to keep an eye on the system. Hopefully the Daly bms will come with temperature sensor as the manufacturer guarantees that the model they sent has one. I'll keep an eye on your channel to see how you'll get on with the big setup as you said batterys are getting cheaper so I may upgrade shed with some free power :)

@OffGridGarageAustralia Жыл бұрын
There is no advantage. It depends on your system design and power needs.

Which BMS are you intending to use with this battery pack.
@OffGridGarageAustralia4 жыл бұрын
I've ordered a 200A (600A peak) BMS with BT. It's not a Daly. I found them a bit overpriced so trying something cheaper first and see how I go.

I think that the total capacity of your battery bank is determined by the weakest cell of this used Chinese electric bus batteries.
