@@bradkuhlemeyer8422 look at dave-cushman(dot) net website. just about everything there to know about bees. Or best youtube channel in my eyes that explains everything about bees without pushing sales ...look up Kamon Reynolds Tennessee Bees. If you want to keep bees alive listen to Kamon......and treat the bees for mites now which will reflect your winter survival and you may need to feed them now. Want more contacts for info, let me know. There are speakers on youtube like Palmer and others. Just wanting to let you know that I do not get anything for it, if you follow those links. I just hate to see that informatial commercial beekeepers are taken money and only telling half the information to keep bees in good condition.
@MrLugerdog5 жыл бұрын
@@FloryJohann It is good that you are comfortable and confident in the beekeeping practices you have learned, but it is sad that you have closed your mind to alternative methods. Maybe you have based your comments on Dr. Sharashkin on just this video and are ignorant on the scope of his work and teachings. Is he making a good living selling his books and products? I hope so! It is the American way and profit is not a dirty word, yet he has plenty of free plans and information on his website. I'll be buying some books and using his plans to build a Layens hive to see how it works for me. But I'll have to treat my mite susceptible Italians to keep them alive this winter and hope to catch some wild swarms next spring.
@FloryJohann5 жыл бұрын
@@MrLugerdog I seen more than this video and I hope the book you are buying is not a copy and paste with a bit of re-write from books that where published in the 1940's and 60's like most books out there. A lot of those alternative methods are re-runs from many years ago that where proven mostly not to be so effective . Sorry if I gave the impression that I am not interested in alternative methods. I am always interested in them and I am working on alternatives....like open a hive and working bees at the middle of the night with an flashlight where the bees do not even pay attention that you have the hive open and you are working the hive, which I had success last Monday doing so. Or having alternative ways to stop the 43 bacteria and viruses caused by varroa mites or prevent wet honey ( less than 18% moister) to ferment without having bad effect on bees or humans because there is no actual chemical involved, another alternative thing I am playing with which I will be testing on a hive next year. I do not have problems if someone makes money with bees....but I have a problem if they go on line and telling folks false information so foks lose their bees because of it and then have to go back to buy new bees and or equipment to replace because someone told only 1/2 the storry or strictly lied about it or omitted things, Have a nice day ....sorry this got so long.

And the local honey helps him a lot. I have been wondering if he had small pieces of the cone to chew on would it help him even more than the honey alone? Tell #Stacy I send a 👋 to her. Love Dr. Leo's voice/accent - it is mesmerizing! On a more serious note, the decline in pollinators is alarming! The overuse/use of pesticides is killing them, and without pollinators to keep the food chain functioning, mankind is doomed to extinction!

Billions of bees die when commercial beekeepers haul the bees forth and back from the almond fields and other fields. 90% of the US bee population is on the move to pollinate almond trees and 40% of bees will die moving them back and forth and rot away on parked trailers after pollination is done. It is the commercial trade to make money that kill most of the bees.

I have bees living in horizontal hives. These hives must be adapted for wintering in cold climates. My hives have vertical cuts in the long sides to make plywood partitions for multiple colonies. This way I can combine several colonies for wintering in one hive. Also, the cover of the hive is deep so that the feeder can be placed on top of the frames. I also use additional insulation from expanded polystyrene. I will chat about this topic kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y160dndugL6niJI
