I realize this is an older video but I’m hoping I could get some answers, as I’ve got a lot of questions. I’m currently enrolled into a medical assistant program. I’ve heard a lot that having your CNA will help a ton with becoming an LPN. Would you say the same thing for a medical assistant? Also, are there lots of opportunities of work environments for LPN’s? I worked as a nurse assistant for a nursing home and got treated so bad. It’s caused a lot of trauma for me and I don’t feel comfortable ever working in a nursing home again. I’ve heard so many times that LPN’s most the time only get jobs in nursing homes and it honestly scares me. I’d really like to work in a clinic environment or doctors office. Is that even likely for LPN’s? Also, would a diploma be different from a certificate if you try going for your RN later? I’ve been told that if you have an LPN certificate it’s very hard to get into an LPN to RN program later on compared to if you had the diploma. Any help would be greatly appreciated…
@kiearacelina2 жыл бұрын
Being a CNA prior to nursing school is helpful because the beginning of nursing school is all about basic care which is pretty much what the entire CNA program is about however, when it comes to charting, giving medication and the more advanced nursing stuff, I would say that being a medical assistant would probably be a lot more helpful. As for long-term care, people tend to say that LPNs only work in nursing homes however, as a nurse with only two years of experience as a licensed nurse, I easily got a hospital job and was also hired by three other hospitals before I made the final decision to take the job that I did, I’ve worked in clinics and I’ve also worked in long-term care. There are many job opportunities for LPNs but of course it all depends on where you live. Personally, I see all types of jobs for LPNs, even remote telehealth.

Is there always a connection into working as an LPN office nurse?
@kiearacelina4 жыл бұрын
I have noticed that it is a little harder for LPN to get office jobs but it’s definitely doable. My advice would be to still apply even if they claim “they’re only looking for RN” and secondly, be persistent. Call and ask to speak to the head nurse and try to convince them to give you an interview, if you’re able to do that and get them to meet you in person, you can use that as an opportunity to really draw them in and you increase your chances.

@@kiearacelina Are there opportunities for English nurses in Montreal? I know and understand French really well, but I'm just not the greatest at speaking
@kiearacelina4 жыл бұрын
LikeAshleigh Being able to speak French is a requirement for nurses in Quebec and you will have to do a proficiency test before even getting a license transfer. The test is just to see how well you understand spoken and written French and they will test you on writing a bit too. If you’re able to pass that, you should be fine because most employers don’t care if your French is perfect especially if they allow you to chart in English which is the case in most places. I wouldn’t recommend Quebec for nursing though, the other provinces are much better .
@ashleighsmith4 жыл бұрын
@@kiearacelina Ohhh okay I see. I've actually heard a lot of people say that they wouldn't recommend Quebec for nursing because the working conditions aren't always good, which is a shame because I would love to move to Montreal! Oh well, thank you so much for that info 😊😊

chance linford I actually have a video about this but a cna is a nursing assistant and an lpn is a nurse. A cna only does basic nursing skills ( bathing, feeding,dressing,transfers...) and lpn will do more advanced things like (medication administration,IV,blood draws,catheter insertion, tracheostomy care,oxygen administration,wound dressings...)
