I worked on our family home office a couple of months ago. My granddaughter happened to be over visiting and we ended up having a kind of party working together. Even my husband got in on our work as lots of the paperwork was his. I was sad the next day when she went to school because it was such a fun day. It took me a week of working on it because we went through every file and got rid of out of date warranties. I can see your happiness shining through doing this kind of work. I know you enjoy getting things done. Proud of you sweetie.

I have a few areas that need a huge overhaul with organizing, purging and cleaning (basement and craft room). I put them off because I’m limited on time but you are motivating to just set 20 minutes aside each day. That’s doable! Thank you! I can’t wait to see how your craft room turns out.

Great Job!!! I have an art room that I did the same, 20 minutes at a time just cleaning the floor and horizontal surfaces. I found that once I did that the overwhelming feeling left and I wanted to be in the space. I think you should keep filming because you may inspire a viewer to tackle their own space. Being overwhelmed does something to us mentally and many times in my life I did not allow myself to enjoy other things because I always felt like I needed to finish a specific task first. Keep going!!!!

Way to go Jen! I am in the same boat, trying to clean things out! I just donated 5 grocery sacks of wooden stamps and craft supplies and I feel like a ton of bricks are off my shoulders. As a card maker/scrapbooker, I have accumulated an obscene amount of stuff and I don't use most of it 😳 my style has changed and now I find that I find myself reaching for clear stamps instead of my wood mounts. The wood mounts take up more space than I want to deal with. It was REALLY HARD at first, but its getting easier and easier!!

Thank you for sharing your journey. I have an office that has gotten out of control, and I've put off cleaning it for months. You have given me the inspiration to jump in and do a bit at a time because mine is completely overwhelming too! I appreciate your being so honest about the difficulties you've had through the process. I struggle with perfectionism, so these videos are so helpful!

Hi Jen! I love the speed cleaning which shows how much you're sorting. My office has also become like yours and I'm working through it at the same time too. I would be interested to see some normal speed clips showing your decision making process and how you determine what will go into which pile. Thanks again for the great content!

You did a good job!!! You have inspired me to work on my apartment, which is basically two rooms the size of your office, plus a small walk in closet and a small bathroom. I have finally got my kitchen table clutter free and clean and fresh. And tomorrow I'm planning on decluttering the floor around and my chairs. And next week, I'm going to work on another part of my kitchen/living room floor. It's a living room kitchen combination. Keep up the good work and I feel like I am going through this journey with you.

Yay! So glad to see the momentum. I agree with taking down the shelving. It’ll be so much more open and zen without all that bulk on the walls. Now that you’re a purge machine, you won’t need the storage anymore! :)

Look at you go! Yay Jen... So happy for you!!! To be completely honest, I am quite the neat freak (or so I thought) but my home office got nutso too! We have 4 children, work 4 jobs between my husband and I and life just got crazy! I finally realized that I was avoiding my office too! My space is much smaller but I still packed a ton in it! I decided to tackle a little bit each day and am already feeling so much better! My next project is the closet in there... ugh that’s going to be “fun” lol! Thanks for keeping it real and inspiring us!

Love this and so glad to see it going well! FYI, Apple has an online resale option too, they'll mail you a box and you send it in and can get a credit/gift card. We recently did it for our old phones and the whole process took less than two weeks from start to finish and was way less stress than dealing with trying to get to the Apple store in person.

Yes, take down the shelves! That big wall of clutter is so visually overwhelming, I can't even imagine it hanging over my head all day while I'm trying to work. Maybe keep a small section for your albums if there's not room for them in the other bookcases. But I'd be tempted to use narrower shelves and store them covers facing out, so they become art in themselves. Then move what you still need from those bins (you mentioned you never go in them) into the closet with the rest of your supplies.

You've made great progress and should be proud of yourself. I think once you get all the stuff out of the room and organized you'll be able to have a different perspective on things. I would not rearrange the room. It's really nice and it's a bonus to have all that shelving. The challenge will be to not keep accumulating things so the room doesn't revert back to what is was. Carry on and good luck. You're doing great!

YAY! 👏🏻👍🏻😊Glad you’re making progress on your project! I like your idea of having a new background/inspiration wall. Now that you have kids, (especially as they get a little older and are invited to birthday parties and things) I think wrapping paper organization will really come in handy. So maybe you can hang it somewhere else, or if you don’t have room then maybe hang only 1/2 or look into other paper storage. But I can see that dispenser getting a lot of use in the future.

Hi Jen, I’ve been watching you for years and years...Here are a few tips I live by so life doesn’t get over cluttered.. 1. If you haven’t used it, worn it in 2 years... your not going to.. with the exception to seasonal items. 2. Ask yourself if you really like an item...give yourself 6 months more to use it or wear it... it your don’t... it’s time to go 3. I’ve turned all our memories into a digital formats... I’ve learnt this from my mom... as she downsizes no one wants to hoard old photo albums or memory books...it’s she kept them for 30 years + but now what... sometimes things look great but you have think about the reality usage of them also. Good luck and keep decluttering!!!
