I felt exactly the same way. I had a spiritual awakening after my father’s death in 2020. I miss him everyday.

Interesting. When I saw my dad's body after he passed, the only thing I could think of was how our healthcare system failed him.

If you’re going to blame the healthcare system, then you have to say how your dad died. Be truthful.

I don’t necessarily believe that people have dismissed spirituality. I think that people have dismissed traditional spirituality and are often substituting it their minds with political ideology, sexuality ideology, scientism, or other means.

I think spirituality stems from humanity's creativity and imagination. You can't speak to an invisible god (or other invisible spirits or entities) I'd you can't imagine it in your head. Grief, sorrow, and other strong emotions have a powerful effect on the mind and the brain tends to want to fix things as a survival mechanism. I've had my fair share of experiences, but I know they're all in my head. I once hallucinated that my favorite character was holding my hand while I had a really awful dental experience. That doesn't mean it was real, no matter how high my brain got me off it. Religion then stems from that shard experience, of folks that all believed in the same favorite character and shared stories of how they were helped by their beliefs, and the shared experiences only serve to reinforce their beliefs. I think the more we understand biology, and the more horror stories people share about religion, the less people will be inclined to follow it. The less people follow it, the more threatened those that do feel, and they're currently in their death throes, thrashing about, trying to force their religion onto others because they are afraid. Spirituality is nice and good. It can help us through tough situations. However, organized religion is like taking it up the a**. A little is nice, especially if you're open to it. Too much and, or unwanted, and it hurts everyone involved.

People are tired of an absentee father? People think death is the end? Real life needs attention before we worry about feeling food? The humanity!

This life is essentially all that we really know exists. Any additional thoughts about the afterlife are pure conjecture, wishful thinking, or are used by manipulators to provoke fear/hope to manipulate. So focus on this life, and make it a better world for all, especially those where just a little more $ could mean so much more!

i disagree on the first thing you said. First of all, spirituality isnt solely about the afterlife. And for some people, their ceremonies and beliefs about the dead help them grieve. None of what you said takes that humanity of these people into account. Waving it away as illogical nonsense and therefor invalid and a distraction is disrespectful. You dont have to believe what others do but death is a part of life and it is only human of us to ponder death, what comes after, and have wonder where our loved ones have gone and go when they pass on.

@@pinkmoonrabbit2072 In all due respect, I feel like this is a strong misunderstanding of the original comment. 1) I don’t think the original comment is trying to define spirituality as just being about the afterlife. He is simple saying (paraphrasing here) this life is what we know to be real so let’s use it to make this world we live in a better place through kindness and caring for one another. 2) I don’t think he/she/they are meaning to be disrespectful to people who hold significance to spiritual ceremonies or beliefs. I think they are just pointing out different ways that people put too much thought and emphasis on the afterlife over what they are doing or the way they are currently living their life right now.

After spending months digesting near death experiences from around the globe, I respectfully disagree. The evidence that we persist is pretty significant. For starters check the documentary “Rethinking Death : Exploring What Happens When We Die” Compelling stuff 🌌

@@lovettuduebor1902 For sure and to this point - what I find interesting about near death experiences : Nearly every NDE’er was sent back (or chose to come back) to do *work* - emphasis on serving others in love…in this world…this life. One particular testimony I really connected to and is a great example of this is Tricia Barker (“Texas Student Dies in Car Accident”. Died agnostic and egocentric, came back with her values flipped). It’s well worth making time to listen to.🍻

Slowing more and more as people have to grip with reality and that there has to be more… they come to find what some of us already know, that God is real and this life is so short and insignificant to the next, the real one. Like we’re in the matrix. The outside is true life.

My father passed eventually we ALL do regardless of the cause its inevitable. That said understanding a higher power exists and refusing to acknowledge God it will do nothing but bring you sorrow and leave you an empty shell of a once promising life.......

What he describes as Spirituality is the narcissistic perspective that "WHAT I DEEM TO BE THIS PERSON, EXISTS APART FROM THEIR BODY, REGARDLESS OF HOW THAT PERSON (OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER) FEELS ABOUT THEIR PERSONHOOD. This is not an attack on Mr. Wilson. But we have to be honest about how arbitrary and subjective the definitions we get for terms like "Spirituality", "Consciousness", "Soul", etc. Spirituality seems to just be The beholders concept of beinghood, for themselves or others, irrespective of others' perspective/reality, in an attempt to soothe their discomfort with the INEVITABILITY of HUMAN MORTALITY. The spirit is whatever/however the beholder wants to remember or conceptualize as the relationship with someone else, beyond physical interaction/existence.

Or! There's just nothing after death and we don't need any spirituality. Perhaps we just need to tolerate each other a bit more and show some compassion.

How about science? Science and spirituality are the same. Anything debunked is not true. Spirituality is just truth. It's bitter but the opposite is denial. Where 99.99% of people like to "live" until they die.
