Conan started his comedy writing in college for The Harvard Lampoon, a very intelligent humor publication, and he's never looked back. Wrote for SNL, The Simpsons, and now his own live stage comedy show. The man has a brilliant mind, and is so great at relating comedy and life. His improv skills are VASTLY underrated too.

Conan also wrote an amazing pilot with fellow SNL writer, Robert Smigel (Triump the Insult Comic Dog) - it's called Lookwell, it's on KZbin and it's pure genius. Starred Adam West as a washed up actor who was on a a 70's cop show who thinks that because he played a cop on tv, he can solve crimes. And when he goes undercover, it's based on stupid Hollywood stereotypes, like an actor would think is real. It aired in 1991, but obviously it didn't get picked up by NBC. So, after that Conan went on to write at the Simpson until he got a shot at hosting Late Night.
@inarar53342 жыл бұрын
The bit he did back on his first late late night run after Letterman where they had a thing where the show turned out to be a massive sting operation to get at Conans brother was when I knew this dude was just a singular type talent. They struck the whole damn set and left him all alone on an empty set to start a goodbye monologue, only for someone to yell out off screen something like "the idiot still thinks he's got a TV show!" Went to commercial, came back and everything was back, and after a quick "they're gonna let me keep going" nod they went on like nothing happened. Me and my friend could not stop laughing.

Conan had a late night show in the 90s/2000s on NBC in NY which was insanely funny. Then he was supposed to take over the prime time slot when Jay Leno retired but NBC kind of screwed him out of that (lookup 2010 tonight show conflict)and he left NBC. His current show is on TBS and he’s based in LA. I used to stay up just to watch him in the 90s. To answer Dave’s Q, I think he started as a writer

Conan started as a writer for Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons many year ago. If I'm not mistaken, he went straight from a writing position on The Simpsons into late night TV hosting. I think he took over The Late Show after Letterman left. I have looked at a lot of his comedy bits on YOuTube, especially the ones where he just does weird stuff with members of this staff or the public. This one was mildly amusing, but some of them are hilarious. I've said this many times before, but Conan reminds me of early Letterman, when Letterman used to go out and do all kinds of weird stuff on the street, like the classic Letterman working the Taco Bell drive-through window. That's on KZbin. Both he and Letterman are very quick witted, so those are comedy gold.
