"Heartbreak" is the twelfth episode of the first season on The Rookie. This is twelfth episode of the series overall.
"The most dangerous day of the year" - Valentine's Day - has the team on high alert. Isabel and Tim Bradford meet to talk about Isabel's rehab, Jackson West finds a date in an unexpected place, and Officer Nolan invites everyone over for an "anti-Valentine's" party now that he is single.
The evening before Valentine's Day, the rookies are on a night out in the same location as Grey and his wife. When the rookies have to leave, Nolan gets in trouble with a man harassing a woman at the bar, ruining Grey's evening. On Valentine's Day, Bradford takes a day off to meet up with his wife, who is in rehab. They end up breaking off their relationship, with Bradford telling her that she'll never move past who she was as an addict if they remain together. Nolan and Bishop arrive at a car crash where Nolan saves the driver's life. She lost her husband a year ago and tries everything to get together with Nolan, even cozying up to Ben to get close to Nolan. Lopez and West interrogate an alleged assault victim who claims to suffer from dementia, but turns out to be a dangerous criminal. West hits it off with a male nurse. Lopez searches Evers' smartphone, assuming he cheats on her, but in the end, it turns out to be different than what she had thought. Nolan arranges a party for his first Valentine's Day in a long time without company and is surprised when Officer Bishop attends.
The Rookie is an American police procedural crime drama television series created for ABC by Alexi Hawley. The series follows John Nolan, a man in his forties, who becomes the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department. The series is based on real-life Los Angeles Police Department officer William Norcross, who moved to Los Angeles in 2015 and joined the department in his mid-40s.
The series stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin Jr., Mercedes Mason, Melissa O'Neil, Afton Williamson, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore and Eric Winter.

I’m not sure who “we” are but that is far from the elements of the offense for sexual assault. At the very best you’d have offensive/provocative contact which is a class C misdemeanor aka usually just a ticket able offense.

It would at least fall under "unlawful restraint" or "simple assault". If you look at the elements of the offense needed for sexual assault this wouldn't meet them. There is a lot that goes into an investigation like this (he didn't conduct an interview/investigation) and we have to (or at least should be) operating under the presumption of innocent until proven guilty, or in police officers case "reasonably suspicion/have probable cause" of crime being afoot.

In my state, we're LE 24/7 regardless of us being on duty. The guy pushing Nolan is a battery, and thus an arrestable offense.

Calm down super man. You’re LE for 40 hours a week (plus overtime) it’s a job it doesn’t need to be your identity. Also in our state we were told to do everything possible to not have to intervene as a police officer off duty unless it was a violent felony or serious bodily injury, so Nolan intervening as a concerned citizen fine, but that shove only came after he decided to insert himself in the situation. Let’s not forget this is dramatic for TV

You are legally covered on intervening in most crime regardless of LEO status, it just to duty to intervene being gone leaves the door open for the loss of qualified immunity when doing it off duty.

If my elementary school days of firemen coming to our schools about safety is correct... isn't the rule for downed live powerlines is to either hop with both feet hitting the ground at the same time to close the current loop or to shuffle your feet but never lifting one. If i remember correctly, the entire ground is dangerous for a wide perimeter, the danger is not just getting directly zapped by the wiggling livewire. So Nolan would have probably been electrocuted long before he got to the victim unless his shoes got a lot of rubber in the soles but even then, it was risky not to shuffle.

There is no good way to approach a power line like that but it's probably not a terrible idea to take the small explosives off your body 😅 And are you asking about how to check on the serial killer dude? It likely just would have been better to handcuff him right away before trying to wake him up 🤣

I would have like to see them react to the victim who Nolan helped. That had crush on him because of the bridge/savour effect, what ever anyone calls that. Or is that too much psychology for the police? Isn't that kinda also part of policing? To know and be vary of things like that? Not just that but psychological stuff must happen a lot, don't they get any training on it?

@@OnlyCops Interesting. I wanted to be a cop all my life, more specifically, a detective. I’m 37 now. When I was about 22, my best friend became a cop in major department of a major city. He told me about how bad the corruption was. It soured my dream a little bit, also, a bad knee injury that never really healed that well. He is still in that department today. He’s a sergeant. Hopefully not a corrupt one.
