Officers Sing Happy Birthday After Man Called 911

It was a special celebration for a milestone birthday. Officers with the Boston Police Department wanted to make Chris’s day extra memorable. They surprised him with a muffin and candles in honor of his 25th birthday. The officers showed up at his front door after he reportedly called 911 telling the dispatcher “I want someone to say Happy Birthday.” Inside Edition Digital has more.

Autism is really lonely. We wanna do the normal things so bad. Probably genuinely the only number he knew and had. I’m sorry but I’m glad they did this. I don’t see him doing it every year with some understanding he can’t. Which I am sure they explained while there. This didn’t deserve jail. What is crazy to me is neurotypicals deem solitary confinement the worst of the worst punishment and will go insane, while that is most of our autistic lonely lives tbh. I remember seeing a story on Cops about a man that called just so he could have someone to talk to. The cops showed up and did just that, knowing it was an important mental health situation. God bless them for doing it.

It does mean something. The dude can be socially isolated. You know what that leads to, it leads to suicide and mental health issues, all of which causes extra strain on first responders having to save someone else's life. Having someone come and talk to the individual leads to them feeling more validated and less lonely. It can be the difference between someone feeling that no one cares about them and suiciding, vs someone living because they had someone they can talk to and call when they feel lonely and depressed. It is just deeply rooted in psychology. Humans need some form of social connection. I am saying this as an 18 year old teenager who has social anxiety, 0 social skills in real life, and has no friends.
