To me, this front end has similar vibes of the 2010-2013 4Runner Trail Editions. Seems a bit more bulky but that is the first thing that came to mind.

Seems like Toyota listened to our complaints about the drawn-out Tacoma Teasers. Land Cruiser had like 1-3 teasers and then boom they give us a firm release date. That’s how it should be!

If it’s not too heavy, I could see the 2.4T hybrid powertrain being the base engine to keep entry price “low”, but I have a feeling the V6TT would be reserved for say, a TRD PRO trim.

This old school design looks really good, just hope the MSRP is reasonably priced, below $60k would make it a strong buy, and if the LC has a V6 turbo then there's definitely room for a 4runner which I hope will be based on the Tacoma, just like when 4runner was 1st introduced.

I fully expect this to have the same powertrain as the GX550, possibly with the slightly lower tune of the Tundra SR. What do I want? A basic version. They'll build this generation Prado in NGO spec, so a (very) basic version already exists. Starting price needs to be well below the GX- otherwise, what's the point?

The same reason Jeep offers two fmidsize SUV's (Wrangler and Grand Cherokee) with off-road cred. The more wants they can fullfil the better. I bet the 4runner will stick with 5 seats, get more basic or comfy.

I just wrote a similar thing about the old 4Runner look to it. I don't think the 4Runner is going anywhere. Sales are too good and it carries a 40 year name plate. Doubtful that it will be killed off. Plus, I think it will be priced below what this LC will be.

The last L/C I owned was a 1975 FJ40 with a straight 6. 😂. I wish the new one was more retro like the FJ cruiser was. It reminds me of Ford calling their truck a Maverick when that was just a goofy little sedan in the 70s. Re-using a name, doesn’t make it the same.

Depends on what affordable is. If you’re working an entry level job, then of course it won’t be affordable. Just gotta get at it if it’s something you want! It’s a LC though. They have been $$$ for a while.

@@TRDJon Oh I make plenty of money but I learned long ago that "investing" in new cars is a silly way to use your money. Many folks who think they can afford it really shouldn't be buying it especially with record high interest rates and record high prices. The sweet spot are Toyotas that are a few years old and well maintained..that's what I've got and they are running well. It's just sad for me to see the pricing of all brands get so out of control with so many features that we really don't need...it would be refreshing to see a brand counter that trend and I feel like the Land Cruiser could be the name plate to do it. In the Middle East/Africa/etc they have very stripped down versions for utilitarian purposes...that would be refreshing to see here!

Turbos?...Not a fan, higher revs, performance, yes, but engine life...perhaps they've moved beyond the concept of longer engine life? Toyota does make missteps at times, but is always a quality vehicle manufacturer. A trait where many other companies have failed miserably. 👍

You can make long lasting turbo engines (semi trucks go forever with turbos)... if it is designed from the ground up to have turbos, it will be ok... turbos got a bad rep because people buy aftermarket trash and strap them on their engine that wasn't designed for a turbo and then run high boost. Modern turbo + designed from the ground up should provide good reliability.

I test drove last year it was availiable in states.. TOOOOOO small inside, seats not going back far enough... very un comfortable to drive. WOULDN'T SPEND A DIME BUYING THIS OLD VERION COFFIN.
