I served this lovely lady when i worked in Greenwich, she was working across the road at the Greenwich Theatre. I remember her being very unassuming and asked to be sat in the corner and order a bowl of soup with bread and read the newspaper. A lovely lady and much deserved damehood.

As a child I was bullied and going through a bad time, everytime I used to watch her as hyacinth bucket in keeping up appearances she bought so much joy and hysterics and her antics were hilarious. What a marvellous actress and great character in real life as well. I didn’t know she was such a prolific actress as I was only 11 I found that out later. I adore her. She’s 1 of a kind.

I’ve met her several times at the MacMillan Celebration of Christmas at Christchurch in Oxford, I get a ringside seat because of my wheelchair, can’t see the podium but whoever is doing the readings waits right next to me. I've been a fan of Patricia's since I watched Keeping Up with Appearances as a child with my grandparents... I've seen every episode and season a thousand times over and still laugh at all tue same old gags. It never gets old. Hyacinth Bucket is one of the great chars in comedy history right up there with the Lucy Ricardo. I've shown my sons and they love it just as much as me.
