Fairy tail was only good because it had Erza, she had the most emotion, conviction, strength, cuteness and boobs. Nastu's emotion range is so small that he's dull, not to mention Gray, while this is often seen in shonen manga, it just makes things dull over several hundred of episodes. Erza on the other hand is a complicated character who had to struggle with the events and aftermath of the heaven tower incident, her feelings for Jellal, she's the one character in fairy tail that made me genuinely sad, Mavis/Zeref comes in as a close second. Fairy Tail Zero is one of my favorite arc. But the times when Erza cried and when she had to let Jellal go, were the most emotional scenes in this anime. Honestly, if Erza wasn't in this anime, I probably would've stopped after Tenroujima arc or the grand magic tournament.

If they limited the role given to natsu and erza and focus on other characters as well....hiro couldn't draw well the other characters that's why he only focused more on erza and natsu... HxH isn't finished (if you mean how slow it gets released) then the author has "health" problems not only that but the quality of both series is not anywhere close. One author actually has to put some thinking into his series in terms of story and character development progression. Me personally i would rather HxH at it current release rate than to have it release at FT rate and let the quality drop to FT's quality.

I love what the universe “could have” become. I feel like FT lost itself somewhere along the plot thread of Tenroujima. That’s right around the time when the “Power of Friendship” started overruling all forms of logic and threat within the series. Tartaros almost brought the series back to its former glory, but the Avatar and Alvarez arcs that followed suit completely destroyed what Tartaros laid out.

I'm not against this if he bothers actually planning this one out. When I was reading FT I always thought he was pretty good at making likable characters and building interesting worlds, but he really got lost eventually when it came to the story and direction. He obviously had some plans in the early going with things like Mystogan being from Edolas but when he had to improvise the manga suffered and oddly, even the fights, of which there were so many, got worse. There were also long running threads that were planned nicely (Natsu not being able to cross an age barrier for instance) but the effect of those payouts was muted when they were floating in a soup of badly rushed improvisation. All that being said I'll be really happy to catch up with my favorite Fairy Tail characters again. I kept reading that manga, despite how bad it got, just because I loved those characters, so seeing them again, seeing which ships panned out, and possibly even how some of them are as parents, will be cool.

You are exactly right. It baffles me that many readers are too moronic to understand that Mashima is simply not a good writer under improvisation. Rave was planned the whole way; hence why it had less gripes. FT suffered from pressure, but Mashima is by no means a bad mangaka or bad writer. He just needs some time to organize his plots.

Despite having its flaws, Fairy tail remains one of my favorite mangas I read. Yes, I began to lost interest of it being my "absolute Favorite" from about 2013 onward but it still remained a fun loving adventure for me to read weekly. That doesn't mean I won't count it's flaws. Power of friendship and asspull fights got boring real fast, however I think the strength of FT lies in it's art and characters. Remember, Mashima didn't want the series to last more than 10 volumes, so because of the popularity, he kept it going, so it probably took a toll on him on how he carried out the story, which had it's hits and misses. I just hope the sequel/spin-off or the anime will change up the last arc and give us the answers we need. So many unanswered questions and plot holes left open that really dragged me in and left me unsatisfied.Hope all goes well for his new series. I'll be reading it when it comes out. I pray he learns from his past success and mistakes and creates another fun loving manga series.

The longer it continued, the worse the story got. However, it’s art style continuously got better. when it comes to FT, in my opinion the tartaros arc reigns supreme is story and stakes. That was honestly the arc FT needed but after that it shot back down to being a passable manga.As for BC...hmm. I honestly like BC. It might be how it plays on the clichés and tropes of older shounen manga and uses it to it's advantage. Despite the art style not changing, there are still moments from certain chapters I very do much like (Asta's half demon form during the forest of witches arc). I just wish peirrot would up their game when it came to the animation quality as it very rarely adapts the manga to anime style. I swear I'm seeing too much squash and speed lines that really kills BCs adaptation.But other than that I enjoy the art style. And even the stakes, despite it being a shounen are still held to a high standard, at least in my opinion. Characters are injured to the point their put out of commission for a while and even the seabed temple arc had Asta suffering a broken arm for almost an entire arc.Plus the current arc is possibly just about to end and I see multiple characters being put in a heavily injured state or worse, dead. whatever the case may be, I enjoy BC. Just enjoy it, as it's just shounen for shounen lovers that can be blazed through for it's very quick arc layout and pacing. In just 150 chapters it's blazed through almost more than 8 arcs. That's quick for a shounen.

Apocrypha was doomed to remain under its predecessors shadow. The great thing about the fate series aside from its visuals is its characters, and the cast is too large in apocrypha for them to properly delve into character motivations and dynamics. Pacing may have also been an issue, but it was too big for its britches in the end.

i loved fairy tail for the longest time, however, i am still salty at the last arc and the ending. i mean the anticipation for the uber powerful characters was high.
