I bought an A7C and A7IV at the same time and tested both out on some hikes, street photography, documentary, etc. The a7C was not small enough for me to choose it over the A7IV. They both fit in my small peak sling, and 150g of extra weight didn’t outweigh the pros of the extra custom buttons, WAY better EVF, better grip, etc. I debated waiting for the A7CII, but I agree with you thinking “is it pointless?” It’s not like it’s SO small like a Fuji XE4 or the a6400 where it is a substantial difference. Even those aren’t pocketable (unless you have a big pocket).
@sharifsalem Жыл бұрын
You seem to have missed out on the resolution of the R version being the major difference in these two new cameras. The A7C ii isn’t the “base model” for the A7C R, they are different products just like in the A7 and A7R model lines.

If this is the first video you’re watching on the channel or on the camera, then yeah you may be questioning where’s X specs but I’ve made several videos on both cameras. So, past a point just reading off line by line of all the specs is redundant. Some stuff is better left until release day to confirm exactly what those are because they often change or have quirks the rumor sites simply don’t have yet. So, worth the wait until there’s more clarity in the coming days.

I thought 8/29 was the official announcement, not the actual release. We’ll probably see all the camera KZbinrs with their reviews. On the 10 fps, both a7IV and a7rV shoot 10fps. The only main appeal imo is the “C” series is they are the compact version, if they had better specs it would canabalize on the sales of their “big brother”. I’m sorry if I’m all over the place 😅 keep up with the great content.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Nope, you're not all over the place, I'm tracking with ya lol 8/29 is supposed to be the official announcement date when they release the camera - when it'll actually ship? It's almost always around 30-days later. So, it's one in the same. My thing with the price cannibalization theory is those of us that would buy that similar product, kinda already have our mind set on getting it still at some point or having multiple cameras. So, the income potential is still there, just not solely from one purchase. At least that's one perspective. Sometimes you need the bigger camera to carry a huge load, othertimes you want to keep it more compact but similar creative power.

@@DianaGladney yeah, I think it’s the build of that 33mpix sensor that’s limited though. What is the best sony camera for videography in 2023 only for video
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
I never give any generic recommendations; “Best” depends on your intended use case. More specifically, what kind of videography work you’re doing and what scenarios and environments you’re in. For some, it’s the A7S 3, others the FX3 and some people opt for all kinds of cameras like the recent a6700, and on and on. It’s really more a preference honestly. There’s no one “best” camera necessarily, just what ends up being best for you in your use case. What kind of video work are you doing specifically and are you already using any specific camera models, brands, etc.?

Ah! Gotcha! Well, it honestly doesn't take much, there are a lot of older cameras that could work but they all have some limitations. Something like the a6700 would kinda be ideal. It's still compact, much better battery life than a lot of it's sibling cameras like the ZV-E10. Even though the ZV-E10 could work great, or any older camera honestly, again it's all about limitations you might bump into. In a humid camping-style environment you'll want something with some weather resistance, great autofocus, and stabilization while you're walking, a microphone port, and it's lightweight with a lot of lens options. Honestly, if you want to go super small, something like a Go Pro can work too. But that'd be my recommendation and that'll do really well for some years and has a range of features to do other things, and survive some moisture and temp changes.

The A7C mark II looks better than A6700 in a way. I’d get the full frame I’ve come to live in a light body. A7CR would be great with APSC lenses with the extra megapixels. I kept some APSC lenses that don’t have a light full frame counterpart.

I am looking at my a6700 and I have to say they look the same unless these are fake pics
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the A7C could be a great move BUT the comments that were also shared with the rumored specs says it feels like an FX3 without the cage ports. While the body design is compact, I don't feel like it'll be as lightweight possibly AND still be able to do all the things we're hoping. And that's UNLESS there is better heat dissipation than we've seen. I feel like it'll be a little heavier than the ZV-E1. Probably still a nice size with a better grip but a bit heavier. I'm anxious waiting for that detail myself. As far as lens comparissons from APS-C vs Full Frame, you're absolutley right! We're just not seeing what would be considered "ultra wide", I suppose, on the full frame side. Around 18mm is as small as I've seen with AF and it being lightweight. Outside of that, the lenses get really "heavy" and much larger, especially if you want an f2.8 vs f4. So, I think APS-C for super compact and lightweight priority is the way to go. I didn't want to add more APS-C lenses unnecessarily, but it's almost no alternative.
@IndiaDelgado Жыл бұрын
I’m looking to see what the megapixels are on these and the form factor. If the megapixels aren’t in line with the bigger FF and if it doesn’t maintain it’s current ff with being compact, then I may go through with getting the ZV-E1 for my video needs one of the a74 or something for my photos.

They're supposedly around 33MP for the base A7C 2, the R is likely to have the A7R 5's sensor, or Sony could have something else in mind, but I trust Sony to release more realistic prices and still have a good feature stack. Sony Alpha Rumors info is all over the place lol No sooner we post this video, now all of a sudden this "might" be the price with a lens and an included free grip. I'm hard-pressed to believe anything other than the camera's release date, we will likely see the A74's sensor used in one of them, and at least features like what the A74 and a6700 have.

I need to get an intro camera for my partner. Would something like an a6000 work for her?
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Depends on what they're doing. The a6000 is a really old camera. Granted, it can still do an awesome job when used properly but it just depends. If it's for photos, absolutely. If it's for video, there are some quirks and it's honestly not ideal at this point. It's one thing if it'd be for live streaming then you can make it work but it has not headphone port, the older battery and older menu and you'll quickly run into its limitations. You'll see folks grabbing one today because they're more experienced and they know how to get the best out of it, but someone less experienced might find areas of the camera frustrating and it becomes more of a waste. What kind of content is she planning to create or her intent with grabbing the camera?

Now I have beyond zero desire for the 16-35GMII, because a 20G is always going to outslap that on the A1 & I'll just hold my chips until the second F1.2 GM drops before the Summer Olympics. Its not worth investing in "slow 2.8 glass" when you have the A1, & the 85mm & 24mm focal lengths need F1.2 and Quad Motors to show off the full muscle of the A1 & A9iii

@@DianaGladney 20G has better AF motors than the 24GM. I can say that with 100% certainty. Yet everytime I point this out, Sony trolls attack me. They cannot allow Canon to have 3x F1.2 Primes and sit back with only 1...that is why you will see either the 85 or 24 F1.2 drop with the A9iii. No A7 body can push the 24GM & 85GM to the limits like the A1 does and you can see that those GMs were not made for the A1...it’s just crazy when I point out the fact that Canon has had their 85 F1.2 out since 2019, and 4 years later Sony refuses to answer

Sony is killing themself, by that I mean who would buy a ZV-E1 now that the a7c II is out there for $200 more. The a7c R better have a fan in it at that price. The a7c II is twice the price of the a6700 and the a7c R is 3 times the price. Would you sell an ZV-E1 to get one of these? I mean you get EVF, joy stick, more buttons, weather seal, better build, a better LCD, more memory settings. I think it would be a maybe for me, 70% I might do it. In the end camera body prices are nothing compared to lenses.

There 2 extra dials on the leaked images: one in the front and one the rear, outside of the extra one that’s next to the PASM dial. Lol the straps are removable lol I’ve not met one person in real life that uses those on the camera lol They’re so noisy. Nah, they know their customers buying behaviors. People will moan about this and that but within 6-months time of a camera coming out, it magically appears and then you see videos “Why I bought the…”. It’s not really an “OR” type decision, it’s more of an “and”. You aren’t choosing one or the other, it’s an and because we often need more than one camera for efficiency and convenience or the type of work someone is doing depending on their use case. I had one of 3 camera solely for podcasting and live streaming to always be at the ready. So, yeah, I’d keep my ZV-E1 and grab the A7C 2 or similar if it made sense. But I’m thinking it might be heavier than I’d prefer so that’s one thing to decide on. It’s not always price, or options and use case. For some price is irrelevant if they’re booking higher paying gigs right off the bat solely because they have access to the requested specs for certain projects. It’s different for those buying it just because or for a hobby, then it’s one or the other. And if you can only buy one, you get the right one and the rest is irrelevant, but Sony still wins the customer and like you said, the real money is in the lenses lol 😂

Gatekeeping the 4-axis screen to the CR and not giving it to the Cii is a joke for PHOTOGRAPHERS, because "Photographers" need a tilt-screen for street shooting and landscape. I own the A1 and I would throw this body into a trash can if it had the A7IV articulated screen. They are trying to do everything they can to destroy "Photography" and raise up TikTok and useless Video content to dumb down the masses

Mmm I can definitely hear your frustration because it’s not like it’s just these cameras, nearly all camera releases in the last 6-7 years, save the A7R series and A1 are heavy on the video updates, but that’s where the market is. Outside of AF enhancements, photography hasn’t seen a ton of updates corporately other than AF, resolution, and FPS but it’s otherwise at that law of diminishing returns level. Or so it appears. I don’t see them trying to crush the photography passion or art because smartphones did that a long time ago. If it weren’t for my passion in learning and teaching video for entrepreneurs, my last digital camera would have been in 2006 lol because my phone was better value and with me daily vs a camera that was severely limited. But Creators and businesses buying cameras for their work, like me, helps people discover the arts of the photography and the video world and that just further elevates the industry as a whole because they’re buying multiple cameras at time when the market has shrunk severely. 2020 helped boost sales though too for video and live streaming. It’s already known the camera space has drastically decreased but more photo spec’d only cameras wouldn’t be ideal. We’d just go to the camera brand that does serve those needs and Sony would decline because photographers don’t have a need for new cameras every 1-2 years, even 3 years. Video still has a way to go to get “there” before you hit that law of diminishing return level fully. I don’t think it’s gatekeeping the tilt screen and the Ads say “Tik Tokers” lol but that’s not whose buying cameras at all lol not these anyway lol But cameras that use that screen for now will probably have a Premium price attached with it. At the end of the day, I’m not an photo person but I do try and look at these situations objectively. As much as I can anyway.

@@DianaGladney that was probably one of most succinct and articulate responses I have read. I agree with what you are saying and it makes sense the way you put it. I don’t do a lot of video, and I don’t have my ear to the ground in that arena like you do, and you bring up a lot of great points.

No interest in the A7C2 or A7Cr.

Interesting, so which camera would be ideal for you? 🤔

@@DianaGladney I do mostly landscape photography. I mainly use two A7RV cameras.

Not buying at those prices.

Yeah, it won't be for everybody but there's definitely a lot of people that'll love all these features in an A7C body, so time will tell how it goes.

@@DianaGladney right. It’s funny. Actually just boxed up most of my camera gear this morning and thinking of selling it and just rocking my phone.

@@dericsanchez4081 I hear ya man, but if you think it’s right for you, go for it. Some people love it and I subscribe to plenty of channels and that’s all they use and a Go Pro and I never think twice about the quality because that’s not why I watch. For me, I love the camera route and hate using my phone lol but different strong for different folks. Try it for 1-2 weeks straight and see how you like it.

@@DianaGladney good idea. Do a little test run first and see how it goes.

$1800 for a7cII and $2300 for a7cR is more realible to me. Nothing new on this camera, Sony is playing with us 🤷🏻♂️

These new releases aren't really about something new for real but more so providing more options in different formats. Not so sure how much of a completely new camera with all new specs is going to pop until we see an updated A1 and A9 to really introduce some next level features beyond what already exists. Honestly, no different than the other brands but at least Sony is better in a lot of ways. 🤷🏽♀️
