Given how Paradox's latest business model is to sell half-baked games farted out to extort its player base, and C:S2 suffers much the same as their recent releases like Vic 3 and Imperator:Rome. Not using the Steam Workshop, which is the only reason why Cities 1 has been kept alive for so long post release, is downright unacceptable and a slap in the face to the player base. This gives Paradox full control over whether or not to shut down the modding space after the game finishes development in 5 years and they need to get the community to move to a new, higher priced game or purchase some exorbitantly priced DLC. Their business model sucks and continuing to make these purchases and support this company that does not care about its player base because it has enjoyed functionally zero competition is not something I ever intend to be doing again. Cites 2 launched unoptimized and is a shadow of Cities 1, and it is totally unacceptable to have DLC before the base game is even functional. That's a turd on the chest of the player base. Paradox can go pound sand.

@thephantomchannel53688 ай бұрын
It really does feel like the people who built version 1 had nothing to do with version 2. All they had to do was include the top ten essential mods from version 1. The joke is that the mods that made version 1 playable are now equally as essential in version 2. Why they botched the sequel so badly is beyond me as they should have known better. I guess the CEO has more important decisions to make like if she will ride her pony or her jaguar to work. The modders deserve a piece of the pie considering it is their work that keeps these franchises alive.

Paradox left the workshop because of some members of the community itself, the forever unfixed assets , leaving steam and removing everything ,chaos action,mods with errors, and so on ,i hope PDX mods will take care of all this issues in the future. Till now, look promising.
@capitalinventor48238 ай бұрын
Being on a different platform won’t change the fact that the people who maintain the mods either get too busy with other stuff or decide to not maintain them anymore. There was nothing to stop Paradox from maintaining mods or trying to find new maintainers when they were hosted on Steam. I think that moving the mods to Paradox is all about the company attempting to gain a lot more information about the players that Steam was collecting with the first version. The players are losing a lot with the move because on the Steam Workshop a community had been created. Certain users are well known (for good or bad) and it was good to be able to access many of one’s games extras in one place. It wasn’t a perfect system but I doubt that Paradox is going to be making a better one in the near future.

Although CS1 also became great after all the community mods I have no hopes for CS2 going the same path. This game feels dead since they went official with „no steam“ workshop. The steam workshop is a real pita, but being forced to make another account for basically getting a poor copy of the workshop seems like a very stupid decision. Feel free to disagree ;-) Edit: I also don’t get why they didn’t add move it, node controller and all the other essential tools to the base game. They could be optional for „advanced“ players who want to build more realistic looking cities.
@JouleThief298 ай бұрын
I don't see any disadvantages with Paradox Mods especially because it will come with light modding support for the console folks. I see this as one of the only things done right in the launch of this game. Move it, Node Controller do not come with the base game because they can "break" the game and could be considered "cheating" I guess. They are power tools for advanced users and don't need to be in the base game because of that imo. Also, I don't want to know how much more buggy the game would have been if the devs had to also implement these mods.

It baffles me that players still hope for betterment for this title, as its launch was a downright disaster. Even after nearly half a year, it barely functions, lacks tons of features and is overall just a really bad game. On the other hand, it's just amusing to see how desperate 'content creators' are to breathe life into this long gone corpse, just to save their petty channels. That's the most fun you'll ever get out of this trash heap.
@ThaJay8 ай бұрын
There is nothing that even comes close to CS1. CS2 actually is an improvement in a lot of ways. It just doesn't work correctly yet and could have more content. People are mad because they released 2 years too early and had a taste of the sauce but they can't use it properly yet so everybody is stuck either getting frustrated over the comparatively clunky controls of the first game, not playing a city builder at all or playing a subpar copycat. Nobody is happy but there is no doubt this is the successor to CS1. That's also why people won't shut up about it. We're in limbo and we want out.

The road tools are way better than in the first game. That's not the issue. CS1 is pretty much unplayable after you have put in a few hours building roads in CS2. They're that good.
