I used to play Vanilla, but i quit for the same reason and ended up joining a 2x Vanilla modded server, where the max team count is 4 and no teaming allowed. Actually brought the spark back into to me. As well when the friends are not around for the wipe i switch to there solo only 2x vanilla server. Gotta say its so rewarding and the game just feels so fun again. If you haven't tried a 2x modded vanilla server. you'll come to find how much more fun the game is and not stressing on getting wrecked by clans. Another Perk to Modded Servers, is There's nearly 24/7 active Support for dealing with modders. in about 5 wipes i have not come across a cheater, which is insane. Just stay away from Pay 2 win severs, Those are hot garbage. Find the most vanilla server you can find, and try out a wipe where there is no pay for advantage

One thing you might try to discourage ESP raids is craft boxes full of rocks in "bad" places. If you suspect you'll get raided by a cheater. It's why you'll occasionally find a box like that in decayed bases.

Cheaters are the reason i gave up on Rust, 5 years, all worth dick all. The cheating was always an annoyance, but now its just beyond anything reasonable. Last time I got on I was on a 40 player server, farmed for a bit, got down a decent little rock base, had just got to T2 guns, and was having a good time. Had to get off for 20 minutes, and I was raided, they right directly into all my loot. I had two rooms, one that looked like a normal loot room, and one that was hidden, they didnt hit a single wrong wall or door, left my core completely intact, just hit my loot. WTF is the point of even trying at this point, never before has cheating been such a headache. Good on you for staying on the grind, but I am over farming for six+ hours just to have some fuck wit offline me that second I get off cause they are using ESP cheats to watch me at all times.

Well, getting a bit philosophical, I think it's more about personal expectations and how much you are in control to achieve them. If your main motivation is about building and surviving, then it's even more frustrating if >others< make you fail, especially with an unfair advantage. If your main motivation is about creating and sharing a story and your base is just a secondary goal, then such setbacks are at least part of the story. So while a destroyed base creates different content, an unstable recording setup would probably be a reason to quit for him, even if it's just about fixing the setup while missing out the rest of the wipe.

Honestly Willjum is one of the best shots/pvp players in rust. He regularly 1v2,3,4s ppl. When he plays with pvp KZbinrs he more then holds his own. If he played a more aggressive play style. He would be crushing whole clans.

2 months ago i had never played rust, now i have 1k hours, a group of friends in a village and after watching hundreds of base videos and electricity guides ive developed my own personal base i use every wipe with most of the amenities rust has to offer all because of willjum.
