Why are people complaining about her being evil? She doesn't seem *evil* to me. She's just an overprotective mother who still has some trust issues when it comes to romantic love because of what happened to her in the first film, and if married Aurora will most likely have to live in the prince's kingdom and away from her. Even so, it looks like she at least tries to support the marriage by meeting with the prince's mom only to have the queen insult her, her kind and motherly abilities, and threatens to take the one person she loves. I wouldn't be surprised if the mother-in-law was secretly manipulating things so that Maleficent looks evil (even though she's really not). Prince is likely not in on the deception but a pawn in his mother's scheme. With the introduction of the other "maleficent" people, my guess is that the mother-in-law had a part in waging war against them and driving them out, which is why she has issues with Maleficent herself (being 'one of them').

I presume that what she's trying to do is gain legal control of Aurora's kingdom through a marriage between her Son and Aurora, its a politically calculated move that was very common in Medieval times, and since I presume Aurora has been educated in the ways of medieval politics and running a kingdom unless she's still been running around like a naive, irresponsible dolt through the woods all the damn time she should of seen this coming a mile away, unless she's actually given control to her Court officials and Generals then I'm surprised she hasn't been usurped three times now

Umm you forgot the story was maleficent was betrayed by the guy she thought to be her true love, she hexed his daughter to get back at him only to fall in love with her in the end. My take from that is the sequel is the mother getting even, on another note nothing was said about why they needed her wings...could it be her kind was hunted into extinction/exile and she being naive or left behind she trusted the human she met who then betrayed her?

And live action movies aren't so bad(but that's my opinion don't get me wrong) animation takes more time than action movies as well I believe so even if they have a good new idea it will take some times. Sidenote Disney was ALWAYS about telling fairytales and making movies of them so they never really had something they made more (excluding cartoons and movies that they play on Disney channel) so it makes sense to me.

So it shouldn't be surprised that several aspects of the original are missing(at least IMO). Then again though it was only a teaser, so we might see Mushu in the new version after all.

I'm more of a tv series person but this movie is amazing! It's so full of imaginative things and every moment is so exciting. Plot is very well thought out. All the characters and casts are perfectly fitted for the role. Like seriously, you'll see what I mean when you see the movie. Every scene just leaves you amazed by the wonderful sceneries and actions. I am very critical of movies and quickly see the flaws but maleficent 2 is flawless. You wont regret watching this movie.
