I was so shook when I saw this the first time, and every time since, especially knowing this was Avi's swan song with PTX. They put so much emotion and soul into their singing.

I loved your reaction Meghan! Never apologize for holding most of your comments to the end of the video. (Re-read the previous sentence.) We viewers are enjoying the video along with you and your face is so expressive; the classic Meghan "Oooh" at 1:32, 1:56, 3:21, and especially 4:10 (complete with hand gestures), tells us so much. All that, along with a beaming smile at 2:41 and 3:36 or the classic Meghan head-shake at 5:07 combined with an occasional "Oh my God" at 5:41. You (and we) were captivated by another great Pentatonix performance. There is always plenty of time to talk about the video at the end. Keep doing what you do! BTW, the instrument Kevin is playing is indeed a cello (... named "Beyoncé").

So glad someone else said something about apologizing for not speaking through the music. I totally agree with John Courtright. We always know you have some good insights for after. Keep up the reactions. We all love them! FOr more vids of Ptx with instruments are: Radioactive & Papaoutai (with Lindsey Stirling) and then Dancing on my own (first song without Avi the bass).

Just saw your video on this. When I first saw this in 2017, it was soon after Avi announced he was leaving Pentatonix. The way he was sitting facing away from Kirstie, and that Kirstie did much of the solo work and Avi had a part as well, made me think that perhaps his leaving Pentatonix really was partially due to something that had happened between the two of them. That was just my take. Truly made me sad as I thought of Avi leaving. However, he is in a happier place for himself now, and his solo work is great. I'll have to go back and see if you have reacted to any of Avi's solo work. Thanks for the reaction. Subscribed.

One of the distinctive aspects of Kevin's music is that he works very hard to make his cello sound like the human voice. That's why it fit's so well with Pentatonix's vocals.

Love your reaction-no words necessary during the song, especially since they have so much going on. One of their trademark arranging things is to layer their voices one at a time, which I love. They have performed with a band or orchestra several times in live shows, but invariably the instruments drown out Kevin and Avi, the beatboxer and the bass, so all you hear are the trio of Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch. Keeping instrument use to a minimum with Kevin’s cello and occasionally a violin is smart. BTW, his cello-boxing is what got him in the group-a YT vid of his went viral in both the classical music and a capella worlds and got him a phone call from Scott who had gone through several beatboxers looking for a good fit. Kevin’s musicality got Scott’s atttention.
@anonymousblah44867 жыл бұрын
They've used instruments only in 2-3 other tracks like Radioactive, Papaoutai.. Everything else is a capella. I'd love for you to check out their cover of No, Ride, Somebody That I Used To Know, Happy, and their some of their originals as well like Love Again, Sing and Run To You. I look forward to more PTX reactions :) Have a lovely day :D
@Orodroth6 жыл бұрын
In both Radioactive and Papaoutai the reason behind having instruments was their collab with Lindsey Stirling, known for her dancing violin performances. If there are no collabs, they will only use Kevin's cello, almost in any case.

May I suggest: "Angels We Have Heard on High", "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "Come All Ye Faithful", "Carol of the Bells", "Little Drummer Boy", "White Winter Hymnal", "That's Christmas To Me"?? I rock their Christmas stuff, all year round. Please, please, please...Try it! I promise....you won't be disappointed!! :)

Great reaction--your facial expressions are better than words. As it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, could you react to some of the PTX Christmas videos? There are a couple which have had copyright problems in the past (the unusual mashup "Winter Wonderland"/"Don't Worry, Be Happy", the gorgeous "Mary Did You Know" and the Grammy-award winning arrangement of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy"), but the copyright mafia seem to have eased up on them, and everything else in the PTX Christmas catalogue is safe. I am particularly fond of their arrangement of "Carol of the Bells" (their first Christmas video) and "The First Noel", but don't miss "Joy to the World", "Angels We Have Heard on High", "Little Drummer Boy", "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" and "O Come All Ye Faithful", among others. Also, listen to "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" (there is a "Yule Log" recording available on KZbin) in which Avi sings the lead; his voice is so wonderfully warm on this song.

Don’t worry about trying to speak throughout the video. I actually enjoy seeing reactions like this so that we can all listen clearly as well and then afterwards you can speak on it. Some ppl do too much during the video and you can’t hear the actual video cuz they’re talking the whole time.

During the breakdown/bridge whatever everyone is echoing the words "say something" and they're all overlapping. The sad thing is they're all waiting for the other person to say something and they miss that everyone is saying the same thing... that's what this song feels like to me. Everyone in their minds feeling it's the others who won't speak up, but while they're waiting for the other person to say something, they miss their chance. Failure to communicate because everyone just gives up. My favorite part of the song is all Avi's parts, especially when he comes in at the beginning sounding more like a Cello than Beyonce does (Beyonce is Kevin's cello).
