Apologies for the late upload on this one - life got in the way! I had a lot of fun making this video and going back to rewatch all of the episodes of Interceptor. Hope you enjoy and let me know your thoughts in the comments below! Thanks everyone! 😀

I loved this series. I live near to Castle Air's base near Liskeard in Cornwall & arranged a brief visit where their chief pilot showed me around - none other than Michael Malric-Smith who flew the Interceptor on all 8 episodes. I also saw the Agusta 109 used in the show in the same livery but with it's correct registration of G-TELY. I checked with 'Mikey' & he assured me this was the actual one he flew in the show. After all, he would know! A great day and everyone, including Michael, were fantastic and yes, I did get his autograph & a had a photo with him in front of the main hangar.

I clearly remember watching the premiere of the 1st episode and I fully remember the interceptor closely chasing the contestant without him realising he was there 😂 I was nearly 7 at that point and it was just so cool seeing a game show like this. I also remember watching the 5th episode down in Selsey caravan park where we were staying with friends. We were all huddled together watching this episode on a tiny tv inside the caravan. Fun memories and well done for another great retrospective dude 👍👍

I wanted to be the Interceptor when I was a kid. There's 35-year old photos of me impersonating them in my mum's album. I eventually became a programmer, so that aspiration didn't really pan out.

Great video. I had never heard of Interceptor until watching this channel. Don’t know how I managed to avoid this one, as someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s. I guess Channel 4’s Hunted is the closest modern equivalent in the UK.

A current day version of Interceptor would probably be Japan’s “Run for Money”. A number of contestants (usually 15) have to run for a time limit (usually 200 minutes) with no transport while staying away from The Hunters, which are basically if the Interceptor was cloned and were in 2 piece suits. Probably my favourite part of the show would be the prize structure, which is quite simple where the money goes up by a certain amount. There are also missions the contestants have to complete for an advantage (mainly to up the increment or to remove hunters), and all the contestants need to do to win the money is to be the first to make it to the end of the map, which opens once the time is up, if a contestant is tagged by a Hunter, the player is eliminated from the rest of the game. More Hunters would enter the game as the end of time gets closer.

Thank you for this superb documentary on one of my all-time favourite shows. With Treasure Hunt, The Interceptor & Crystal Maze, Chatsworth TV (& Jacques Antoine) created 3 of the most outstanding tv game shows EVER !!!! I adored The Interceptor & Sean O'Kane was hilarious at times. One episode I genuinely thought he called the contestants "You w**kers" as he drove past them on his motorbike. It must have been a very expensive production with 3 helicopters & all the radio equipment. Even the theme tune was a superb variation of Chopin's etude in C minor.

When this came out, it sent me a bit loopy. I made a copy of the zapper, used to try to record the theme from the telly using a ghetto blaster mic port and pestered the people in Our Price for MONTHS after finding out Zacks theme was coming out on 7"! Loved the show but sorry Anabelle, a presenter you may not be :) From the "Hello!", to her "...locking it, permanently AND for ever!". Looking back, it was a silly show, possibly a litte too early technology wise, but golden years of TV that they wont make again!

Loved this show, having loved Treasure Hunt and Anneka and then Annabel and The Interceptor himself, for both shows the music was awesome and the locations were beautiful and really makes you want to travel. However I have to be nitpicky, you kept saying that they had to keep their backs to the Interceptor, in fact it's the other way around, keep their backs away from him as his zapper was similar to a handset for a tv set and would hit the receptacles, so any obstacles between would be helpful. Otherwise lovely video and although it probably would be possible to do a update nowadays, only cos the cameras will be easier to carry, and the radio equipment would be smaller too, but Sean as the Interceptor couldn't be replaced, he was a one off and made the character his own.

@madgeordierob78902 ай бұрын
@Fcutdlady It's not widely known, however the zapper does actually have a shot counter on it and you can occasionally see it - there's a shot at the start of the opening titles where he turns the zapper on and the counter briefly blinks

I loved this show as a kid and as an adult while rewatching on challenge TV. I remember as a kid disliking Annabelle Croft. As an adult.. I dislike her even more lol I feel she was totally miscast in that role. She comes across as totally clueless in most episodes and just rather annoying. This show would have been forgotten if it wasn't for the energy and charisma Sean O'Kane (The interceptor) bought to the show. I used to think a remake of this show would have been amazing but the more I think of it and the way TV is now I think they'd over produce it. Loads of ominous music, overly scripted scenes etc.
