Fun fact: It has been reported that the Irish take on average, 2.4 seconds over the ball at breakdowns, whereas the Boks take 4.0 seconds. A difference of 1.6 seconds. This time difference is what determines having possession of the ball and converting that possession to points on the board.

Ditto ....rassie. He has brought delight and sun into my life, I have been astounded by his innovation and strategy and sometimes I just laugh at aloud. Many other top coaches refuse to accept and follow some of his ideas because of their egos maybe. Like it is a 23 person game, I agree with this masterstroke, absolutely true in so many ways (too many to highlight). SOme say it is illegal. So dumb and small minded. Some still sub players on at 75 minutes, some still have players not used, so draconian. I don't want to run down others, it is more I am highlighting Rassie and his coaching team. Calling a scrum from a mark, pure genius. Picking one main halfback in a RWC final genius. Standing on halfway line at warmups, talking to media, talking about refs (mistakes then makeups) all to take the focus off his players, brilliant, Waterboy stint so astute. Picked Siya as captain, right person right time yet in hindsight this maybe was ingenious but is now a lasting coup de maître. Going to see great things from Siya, so interesting to see the difference in 2019 Siya was passing the cup to others to hold and celebrate, in 2023 he took it by both hands, he has developed significantly in public speaking pre and post game and his public demoue is incredible. The transformation and diversity of the Boks, Bokke or Amabhokobhoko is Nobel Peace prize level. He and his coaching team have also transformed the teams skillset and game plans. He has orchestrated the team well, on game day who is better? - in 2019 instructing team do "the move now", next level. Wants success but gives it to his players by standing in the back of celebrations. I could go on and on, which maybe spooky but Rassie is incredible. By the way visions and dreams can be explained by the fact that when you know the game so well, studied all the patterns, you know each player from both teams, you know the ref, you have instructed your players to play a certain way or to look for certain triggers then some things are predictable, yes it will be a close game, yes your players and your bomb squad will get a penalty yes the other team is happy to give penalties, when they have a lead, especially if they think the kick is out of reach, yes you have a player that could kick that far under pressure and deliver, etc. In other words I truly believe you can make dreams come true. There are things you can control. Take a calculated risk and it may very well pay off. I salute you Rassie.

Your thinking is a bit backwards. They are a team (Jacques and Rassie), they have been working together like brothers for years, long before the Springboks. They don't care about what people think, they just work together to achieve their goals that they both desire. Whatever their titles say, they still deliver the very same work that they are each best at.

@@blaquenguni9249 You're missing the point, those are titular. Whether Nienaber or Erasmus are "coach" or not...they are still going to be performing the same work with each other, apart from extra media work. Why should they do work they are worse at just because the title of the job isn't typically framed in that way? That would negatively affect the team and management. Some people care about being the "boss", that is an ego thing, not productive. Neither Rassie nor Nienaber enjoy doing media coverage, that is just a crappy part of the job they have to endure - it doesn't improve the team. They'd rather be chatting and watching rugby analysis together, which they love. Nienaber has worked closely with Erasmus for 17 years. Erasmus and Nienaber worked together at the Cheetahs and then the Stormers. Erasmus also took Nienaber with him to be his defence coach when he was appointed director of rugby at Irish club Munster. They emigrated across the world with both of their families, and back again. They aren't just colleagues. They are a team, they don't care for the titles, only that the titles give them both the power they need to get the task done...which is to make the South African rugby structures and systems great. So that the Springboks will always have amazing player depth.
