How is it that a country (South Africa) whose Rugby Team is annually ranked in the TOP 3 in the WORLD, merit the Term 'UNDERDOG'??? The Springboks lost ONE GAME in the 2023 Tournament (a game they were 3 meters from winning at the final whistle!) - they beat France, New Zealand and, England by a combined total of 5(?) points in 3 classic games. Hmmm... yeah, still tho, definitely not underdogs. An England, Aus or Scot I'd have considered underdogs. With the exception of one demolition in NZ, there wasnt a single game in that 4 year cylce where we lost that we couldn't have just as easily won. That simply showed how close all the teams in the world had become, there were no out and out favourites. Cool video though. 😊

I don't think the Springboks are ever considered favourites, which suits us just fine, for a couple of reasons: 1. Firstly we have learnt how to peak at just the right times which doesn't always look pretty in matches leading up to the RWC. 2. In general people don't like the Springboks because we have such a passion and drive to win that most other teams cannot combat it for the length that they need. 3. They always seem to think that pushing us down will somehow make us cower but coming from communities where danger is rife, it will bring out the fight in us. A lot of teams haven't either quite realised the importance of team unity or haven't quite realised that passion and love for the game is a critical part, not to mention that playing for your country and home communities means everything. Each team member plays not just for himself but also for every other man in his team

Honestly a try-saving tackle is sometimes more satisfactory than a try. And while you are at it check how many times the engraving on the William Web Ellis trophy mentions tries scored compared to how many times the champion team is mentioned... Chuckle chuckle chuckle and a 4th chuckle😜 Edit: And while we are at it. Compared to their opponents in the last 3 games The Springboks scored 1 more try than the French (4 vs 3), one more than the English (1 vs 0) and 1 less than the All Blacks (0 vs 1) in their pool they also went evens with Ireland (1vs1) and scored 2 vs 0 against Scotland. In my humble opinion that is not too shabby for a team that "cant score tries"

Nick Mallets got a big jaw! He has never won us a world cup. I remember once , he dropped Gary Teichman from the team and made other bad decisions and it made us lose.

But sometimes it makes more sense to play defensively responsible rugby. Going all out to score tries can lead to defensive mistakes that can result in losing the game.

I always have a laugh when i hear NZ and other teams criticising our style of play, when their style of play is enough to lose. Stop judging our style, play your own game and devise a way to beat us, we'd love to see the results. Is that style of rugby gonna be the style of rugby that wins a World Cup? Yes, if it wins the World Cup then obviously it’s working. Keep 15 players on the field next time and the result might be different. You can blame nobody but yourself if you get a red card in a World Cup final. Everyone is playing according to the same laws. For years might I add. If you haven’t adapted to the high tackle laws by now it’s your problem. Make your style win the World Cup and everyone will do the same.

Well if the all blacks keep getting red cards, how is that the springboks fault or problem? I’ve seen quite a few amateur school and club teams who manage to keep 15 players on the pitch. That problem can only be avoided by the team who receives red cards. The head contact rule has been in effect for years. If they can’t adapt to that, they don’t deserve to win the game. Everyone is playing by the same laws.

Not true, the margins at the top are way too close, depends on the day, home or away, the ref, the flights...there are many influences on who wins for the top 10 teams, any of such teams can win on a certain day. Many of the Boks are about to retire too... ❤ Springboks 🇿🇦, but also realistic, NZ, England, France, Argentina, Ireland, Wales, Australia, Scotland, Fiji are all excellent & formidable on their day.

No player deserves that. Frizell did deserve his red card. But so did Siya. I’m proud of the World Cup. We won it. The ref unfortunately had his feelings hurt and wanted to get back at NZ.
