I did, born in 69, so I know lots of music, from the early 40s to now and thats the great thing of getting older, you can listen to anything you want and sometime in my early 20s, I started to explore more music, more genres and more artists, sometimes from other parts of time and the the world, but mostly the US, the UK, Ireland, Jamaica, Australia even, France, Italy, but mostly English, doesnt matter when or where from, as long as its good and their lyrics and/or music speaks to me. In the 90s I was was already in my 20s and most music I learned from 14 to 24 yrs old, but the music started to change and not always for the better and I mean house and dj's getting millions for making a ruckus. BANG BANG BANG, same beat and irritating interruptions, but mostly a lot of noise, Im old school, eventhough I loved the new wave period, which was also done a lot with music with synthesizers etc. which was the real start of the house, but with meaning. Esp in the 80s, early 90s, the songs had lyrics, with political, reggae, with punkrock, rap ofcause, but not at that age. Some music will never grow on me and some have exeeded even my expectations. Bands I listened to in the 80s that still excists, or 90s, like Radiohead, Depêche Mode, Tindrsticks amo, who still sound great when time went by. I gained a lot of new artists and am.loyal to my older artists or those who died, starting with Nina Simone and all black soul, jazz and R&B of all time, but when I was very young, Grease came out, later it became reggae, esp Bob Marley, then it became Prince for a while and then I was about 15, my interests started to evolve and no peer pressure, coz that was normal in those days. It was either Prince or Michael Jackson, disco or funk, pop or metal etc. Now I listen to them all and so much more. Music saved me, I still listen to all these artists and some newer ones ofcause, like Florence and the Machine, Sia, Damien Rice, Rapsody a.o., Lana Del Rey and ofcause Amy Winehouse, but I also love to listen to black artists, starting with Beyoncé ofcause. Every generation has its music and some go look for whats around and there are always great artists, no matter the decade.
