Parts of me that I never knew could, are rocking to this masterpiece! Just brilliant! Can't believe this footage is over 40 (40!) years old!! Class never ages!

saw them in San Diego in 1979, only 55,000 plus there, the best live band I have ever seen, they put out 150 percent and more, then saw them at Dubs at the Univ of Fla, with a few hundred there and they played with the same intensity, just an awsome band.

Enjoy how this song says goodbye in various languages to hopelessness.

One of their truly great tunes....right up there with Elo Kiddies, Southern Girls, Hello There, and Downed. This has soooo much energy live.

Was at that show, Cheap Trick, UFO, Blue Oyster Cult, Pat Travers. Great show, saw Cheap Trick last year here in Albuquerque and they still got it!

And, @ that time most of those bands were ON FIRE !!

@dszilch I couldn't agree more with you, my friend. This tune is a friggin bone crusher of heavy pop maelstrom. NO HOPE! Those lyrics are pure Rick wack. At 3:29, when Bun E. starts double-timing the ride cymbal, that's when all hell breaks loose in this tune. Rock solid live sets like this--dozens here in YT--are proof that this band deserves a place in the Rock and Roll HOF. Let 'em in, boys!

If this concert would have come out on VHS back in the day, I would have worn out 2-3 copies.I would immediately buy a DVD/Blu-ray now should it become commercially available.

This is possibly my #1 favorite CT song. Saw 'em play it at HOB here in Hollywood a few months back. Simply stunning!!!

I saw them a couple of months back in London; these guys are as great as ever!

I'd like to see this concert in full - there's not many videos around for CT in 1980. But this concert seemed awesome - love Tom's bass and Bun E's drumming.

what's up with Tom's intro? Right when he hits the final note for the band to come in, he starts hitting the strings tightly right on the bridge, and the band comes in almost without him...
@porkrollsammy15 жыл бұрын
They've played the intro that way in the past also. I don't like it,but they've done it with Tom dropping down right before they all come in. Also this mix is all over the place,and when Tom goes up to the notes for the intro he's grinding his thin,guitar octave strings only I think.This makes a noticeable difference in the volume of his bass.

I do like it. I like it... it's good. That 12 /string bass is a HUGE part of their unique sound. It holds down the bass & adds a quite unique, wall of sound. A couple other bands used a Hammer 12 in the 90's. But this is one part of CT's Secret sauce.

Now, Kurt Cobain's Smells like Teen Spirit is a straight rip from this awesome CT song...I remember the first time I heard Smells like Teen...in my head I was thinking Auf Weidershen right away...that was 1990. This song is 1977 or 78...opinions???

Actually, it's a Greco Mirage, but they were made in the same factory as Ibanez, so the difference is probably moot.

Anyone know for sure where & when this was recorded. Was it LA Colosium w/ Black Sabbath, Babys..??
@dukeofkbs6 жыл бұрын
Alex That was a great show. I was there that day and made it down to the very front for Cheap Trick. What a lineup of bands that day. This CT show was from the same tour as they played in Providence RI. It was recorded and originally broadcast on the radio as part of the ABC radio series “Supergroups in Concert”. I was stoked the video finally came out!
