Enjoy your videos and have found some great puzzles from your KZbin and your website. Regarding these relatively “inexpensive” escape room puzzles, because of the price point and the delicateness of the inherent laser printed wood parts and mechanisms, I feel these companies do themselves a disservice by not providing people an actual clearly defined starting point. Without the clearly defined starting point, people naturally start poking around and pushing at things, pieces come out, pieces fall out and all of a sudden it’s just a hunt and peck-type situation without a clear storyline being evolved, ruining the apparent linearity of the solve. This also makes it much more difficult to reset the puzzle and robs the puzzler the kind of puzzle adventure that this product seems to be made for. These puzzles have evolved over the past couple of years for sure but it’s still something that I stay away from, at least for now. It is certainly a very compelling puzzle category, but I think that most of the manufacturers who do it in this particular way, have a lot of work to do to improve the playability and accessibility. Some have figured it out and are able to bring the escape room puzzles to market at a reasonable price point without compromising playability or suffering from extreme delicateness of the parts, but this is not common

Hey! Thanks for your thoughts. I do know what you mean, a lot of these boxes coming out in recent years. I really like the concept and it's a balance between quality and price point but feel on the whole they're quite a nice offering. This one was pretty smooth and one of the most logical I've done of recent memory

Haha, this one wasn't too tricky, at least no prolonged periods of trying the same thing over and over again for half an hour! Ye hopefully get some more done in the new year
