He uses a lot of distraction and hints at people being embarrassed, distracts with things like how you shouldn't wear a jacket in a theater- all these are mind interruptions that help him create mental chaos, which causes people to give things away with little tells and he's watching for. He's extremely trained!

That was a great show all around but i think I know how he did the envelope trick. I think he took the $1,000 check out of the envelope by using slight of hand right after she picked it and both of them had a picture of a parrot inside. And then he when she was walking over to pick her envelope he walked over and slid the check in the other envolope before handing it to her. It didn't matter if she changed her mind or not haha

15:05 A camera, a huge fluffy mic in her face, and a sketchy guy from a TV show poking his nose through those bars, yelling at her while hitting the wall that should keep guys that yell at her and hit walls away from her - made her give him that money immediately! That's called a strong suggestion!😂 I'd say: "Take it all, just don't hurt me"! if I'd find myself in that situation! 😬 The script could be more subtle to be believable.

He got the mama from the woman - Barnes, because she was moving her lips, ever so slightly, when thinking about the name. He was closely observing. With the envelopes, he's been saying the word "check" when referring to the one she chose, and when he said "losing" he gestured at the one she did not choose. So he "made" her choose a certain one. He then tried to make her change her mind by putting an X on the one she chose, and a physical "check" on the envelope she did not choose. Now she will associate the "check" with the one she did not choose. As for comparing where people lived, he memorized their names and what their addresses are.

I feel sorry for the tellers at the dog track. Those dodgy payouts will probably have to come out of their wages. I'm sure Channel 4 smoothed things over with them after the filming. But had that stunt been for real, without all the prying cameras and a trickster doing it for real, perhaps in Derren's younger days, those tellers would certainly be in a very awkward situation.

I know what its like to want someone in your life to make it better and it's especially easy to become attached to them if they're a celebrity or someone you idolize. I fkn love Derren Brown watch him every night but the show at the end with the audience of random celebs and civilians was ny least favorite. Nothing really blew me away like usual. He just memorized a book with addresses in it which is impressive but anyone with a photographic memory could do so as well. Just wasnt anything special. Every other show he does is phenomenal. This one definitely lacked. I just felt like it was gonna be a hidden gem i havent seen and just wasnt as captivated like usual.
