Yeah. It would have been correct if it was an inside brace since it would have put the weight from the outer corner on the inside bottom corner. But with the wire it will just be pulling the door down instead of supporting it.

With your tractor being so close to being able to lift your deer stand you could adjust the hydraulic relief valve and set it higher. This is usually a safety feature to prevent from blowing hoses and cylinder packing. But if your only within 50ish pounds of being able to lift it and your hoses are ok then you should be fine. My tractor has a similar issue with lifting much weight.
