Disappointed to see so many empty seats, it’s not a good look for the sponsors and general public when one of the show piece finals plays to a half empty ground. England are the current 50 overs World Champions FGS, yet the ECB seem totally disinterested in the format. It should ALWAYS be played at Lords, marketed 6 months ahead to neutrals as the last big game of the season, priced cheaply because it’s a showpiece event and played on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The ECB are complete idiots. The 2019 WC win for England inspired so many to take up the sport or get interested in cricket and what have they done with the 50 over tournament? Kicked it into touch to be played by county second teams whilst the ridiculous 100 takes centre stage. Credit to Kent and the players, it’s great to see the core of the county squad winning a trophy, such a shame that it’s a format that’s practically been abandoned by the ECB for a ridiculous competition which is harder to understand and purely slogfest for cash.
