It would be wonderful to see a representation or animation produced by geologists depicting a Kimberlite eruption
@lukeingram7655 Жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough there is still no consensus on what exactly that would look like, some theorize they were quite dramatic ala volcano but others feel they were more subdued not to mention a leading theory is that they all occurred underwater!

One Kimberlite eruption I discovered in my garden. Initially it was in molten state.. After two months it solidified and turned into green color beautiful rock. After a year it is now gray color and brown color combined rock. When I broke I saw inside blue color crystal like things. Later the color changed. But near it within one feet I found glass like things which are sparkly and glowing blue in sunlight which are extremely beautiful. I adore admire everyday ..

No known kimberlite has erupted worldwide for tens of millions of years. Any eruption in your garden would have destroyed your entire neighborhood.
@vaiduriampalaniappan90212 жыл бұрын
@@ModernProspector it is true. Small size molten lava cooled and solidified and transformed into a football size rock. I have the rock with me. Why should I lie? Lot of gemstones I picked at that site. You cannot predict nature. Nature has so many wonders. If you don't believe no problem for me.

That’s not a kimberlite eruption, it’s your septic tank blowing up. A common mistake.

Thank You, I learned so much about something I had no idea even existed. You said that Kimberlite is recent in geologic history of volcanic diamonds. Is there a difference in the quality/size of the diamonds prior to kimberlite diamonds? 👍
@lukeingram7655 Жыл бұрын
I think he meant recent in overall geologic history, the kimberlite/lamproite eruptions are the only way diamonds have been brought to the surface, it was a one time deal and will probably never occur again because the cratons have settled and solidified.

Are you familiar with these pipes in Indiana. Bill Bryson mentions of this. Thanks.
@lukeingram7655 Жыл бұрын
The diamonds found in Indiana were carried down from Canadian pipes via glacier during the ice age. There is a book on the subject if you search around.

What should you do if you find a really good sized kimberlite deposit we're at least 1 stone out of every 20 kimberlites contains dimonds?
@aforgottennativeamerica84392 жыл бұрын
OK I have collected and sold a fair amount. At this point it might be easier selling the the entire kimberlite rather then smashing them. But Now I'm wanting to get credited with the discovery but I dont want to see the beautiful land destroyed. I can't decide what to do

@lukeingram7655 Жыл бұрын
Many diamonds have been found in California over the years, most often in gold mining operations, however the source (kimberlite pipes) for them has never been located. Same in Arizona and New Mexico. If you know where a kimberlite is in CA you may have some very valuable information!
@ThirteenPercentHxC Жыл бұрын
@@lukeingram7655 I do know where a kimberlite pipe is right here in southwest riverside county. I've been collecting alluvial diamonds from the sands of the creek which just so happens to run through a Kimberlite Pipe. I've also collected kimberlite breccia from the banks of the creek and the adjacent field. I've soaked the Kimberlite, crushed it to free the diamonds, cleaned the diamonds and tested them using the mohs hardness test and then a diamond tester. I've identified the adamantine luster and 4 sided crystal structure. I've found macles, octohedroids( no perfect octohedrons yet), cubes, dodecahedrons and many which have a twin plane combination of two of the shapes. I've found some big ones too and some which are very clear with gold inclusions. I have all these diamonds and am still a broke ass because hardly anybody will give me the time of day to even look at them, let alone buy them.
