Sausage in father-in-law is easily explainable. Originally it is "sausage in dough", which is the Russian name for a hot-dog. The Russian language, as you may know, is flective unlike English which is analytic. Flective laguages have a thing called inclination. That is, the noun changes its form depending on how it is used (to which case it is inclined). In Russian there are 6 commonly recognized inclination cases: Nominative, Genitive, Dative, Accusative, Instrumental, and Prepositional. Also, Russian language has genders for nouns (just like German or French do). Nouns of different genders incline differently. When a noun like the Russian word "тесто" (neuter gender) is inclined to the Prepositional case (that is, used with a preposition "in"), it becomes "тесте", which is also the Prepositional case form of the word "тесть" (masculine gender) meaning (surprise!) ... "father in law". Thus when you feed a poorly written automatic translator like the old Google Translate with a phrase "сосиска в тесте" without additional context, it just incorrectly assumes the Nominative form of "тесте" to be "тесть" instead of "тесто", hence the poor father in law with a sausage in him.

I can explain the first one. What they mean by 'sausages in father-in-law' are sausage bread rolls, i.e. sausages wrapped in dough and baked in oven. Since they didn't know the English name for them, they opted for the direct translation from Russian. Now, in Russian they are simply called 'sausages in dough', but the problem is that in Russian the words 'dough' and 'father-in-law' are very alike. So, apparently the google translator confused those two words. That's basically the case.
@SisterCaliGal Жыл бұрын
i see how misunderstanding happens.

3:20 not technically a translation fail because that is the literal translation of it. It is written in katakana, meaning that the characters are written as English words in Japanese, so the way it is said in Japanese is the same as English. That read “sui-to taito pussi”
