Yes, I love all the Prince stories as well. I saw a video compilation of numerous guitarist & (SUPER TALENTED) artists recounting their own experiences of playing or hanging out with him. The joy they felt from those times with him makes you realize he was not just the greatest ARTIST…, but a great human being to cross paths with. I really am not someone easily star-struck, but I know I would have been if I found myself in his presence, let alone had the chance to even overhear him in conversation. He inspired AWE it seems, in every one he met. Knowing he is not and never will “be” anymore, returns me to a state of… melancholy. You know what I mean?

In the early 2000s (Musicology days) i was flying home to Minneapolis from LA and you walked past the first row of first class as you boarded the plane. I walk on and Prince is sitting in the front row with sunglasses on. I just about screamed. I couldn't get off the plane fast enough when we landed to follow him. He walked through the terminal. Only 1 gal ran up to him and said hello and he was nice to her. That's my Prince airport story. 😊

They were NOT bitter rivals. They were rivals but they hung out together. Prince’s dancer, Cat Glover said she met MJ at Prince’s house. Even Lenny Kravitz tells a story of how Prince took him to see MJ and the three of them hung out all afternoon. Latoya talks about Prince going to the Jackson compound. Katherine Jackson became pretty fond of Prince.

They change just like we do. Especially since 1988. Check Lenny Kravitz, Latoya Jackson and Tavis Smiley’s stories about the two of them. Latoya said that Prince studied with their mother after he became a JW. Even Prince talked about them talking on the phone and he said that the first thing that MJ asked him was if Prince’s family begged for money all the time too. Prince answered YES and after that, they talked on the phone often. He wouldn’t say what they talked about though.
