I met Shaq late night on a dc street very randomly in a dim lit parking lot, he was with his uncle Jerome and one other guy, (1999), we pulled into the parking lot and said hey what's up Shaq and he immediately turned to her car walked over to us and gave everybody in the car 5 so we hopped out of the car and he started to sign our shirts and anything that we can give him and then he proceeded to talk with us for about 20 minutes until all of my friends became bored and I was the only one sitting there with him while he was playing his Twista music and he had a song where Kobe was rapping. We just sat there and listened to some of his music and he spoke with us and he was the coolest person I've ever met.

I hated Shaq when he came into the league. Disliked him when he won 3 rings in LA. Every year I hated him less and less until he retired. Since he doesn't play anymore I've grown to love this man. I love inside the NBA with him on it and love seeing him speak and how he interacts with fans.

This speech is funnier than most stand up comedy shows out there. And also one of the deepest HOF speeches ever. It's unreal how this man can mix humor and serious business so well. He was made to play basketball and entertain.

Big man with a Hall Of Fame heart. One of the best HoF speeches I've ever heard. He covered everything important without taking the credit! That's unconditional love for you. Its a rare act to follow! But he tries living it everyday. I hope his children carry on this legacy. They're beautiful.

I’m 35 so in terms of my generation Jordan was the greatest I’ve seen, Iverson was the most talented, Kobe was the most skilled, Wade is the most underrated, LeBron is the best overall but Shaq was the most dominant. I think Shaq’s athleticism and passing ability and the most underrated aspects of his game. To see a seven foot 300+ pound human grab a defensive board, rumble coast-to-coast down the court and throw a no-look pass to a trailer was one of the greatest spectacles in sports. In my opinion, Shaq ranks in the top 10 greatest of all-time DOA. In terms of physiology, he probably was the greatest physical specimen of the 20th century sporting world. Guys like Yao, or Muresan were taller, the Big Show or Andre the Giant were bigger but Shaq was ripped to perfection and smooth hence his ability to bust into pop-lock Robot dance or spin on his head like a B-boy. He was in a class all by himself. Seeing a guy with is size being able to spin in space with the ease of a ballerina and throw a soft jump hook off the glass was more impressive than him overpowering the NBA with explosive feats of strength so profound his force could literally break rim supports. Shaq was supposed to be the greatest of all-time, his only flaws were free-throw shooting and conditioning in his later years. Shaq adopted the “Superman” moniker but really he was the Incredible Hulk!

I have heard Shaq being referred to as the "Great Aristotle". One could see why. I liked his HOF speech very much. Dude was very philosophical. He didn't spend much time talking about his accomplishments on the Basketball court, but more so on how he got there...and thanked people along his path to his various successes. Thanking people for how one got to a position in life is seldom practiced these days. Most peeps start thinking that they got there by themselves. Finally he debunked the myth that athletes are just jocks. He honored his mother and took steps to not only complete his BS degree, but also moved on to a PhD. Way to go, Shaq!
