This is so deserved. I’m so happy for Coop mainly because the lakers have an unwritten rule that you can’t get your jersey retired till you’re a HOF. For ANY other franchise, a man who played his entire career with 1 franchise and won 5 rings for an iconic dynasty that changed the popularity of the sport would get that honor easily. But now he will get that #21 rightfully in the rafters. And he’s such a great ambassador for the lakers franchise. Truly purple and gold through and through.

Coooooppp has always been a cool & humble dude. He made me tear uo when talking about "The Logo" Jerry West. I was fortunate to play with Coop, Magic, Baby B Byron Scott, Worthy, etc, at UCLA many summers ago. Just a special group of guys who would give you the shirt off their backs if necessary. The fact most people hate his guts doesn’t take anything away from a phenomenal career The man was a 4 time all-star, 1 time lead rebounder, starting center of a back-to-back team that reached 3 finals in a row and 5 conference finals in a row, and that was during the golden era of centers Even so, he also had a phenomenal coaching career.

So happy Michael Cooper is in the Hall of Fame. My favorite memory? 1985 NBA championship game 2. After the disappointing 1984 loss and the Memorial Day Massacre in game 1, Coop hit key jump shots in game 2 to help the Lakers win. On most other NBA teams Coop would have averaged 20 ppg. Congrats Coop!

Popularity contest. You really think Dame or James Harden deserve top 75 over certain other players? Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway also didn't make the cut. Both got injured but prior to that they were destined to be in top 20 talks all time. Grant not making it is pathetic. Penny was a face of the game in the 90's and did a lot too. But Cooper based on his resume should be clearly !

I watch Michael Cooper played defense against my Boston Celtics and I fear he will stop the offense and most of the time he did. I remember a play where he was far beneath the ring and he went up to rainbow area and block a shot of his opponent. He is one hell of a defender. Congratulation Cooper.

The best Michael Cooper moment by far occured in game four of the 1984 NBA Finals when Larry Bird using his butt alone toppled Michael Cooper head over heels into the camera well causing the crowd at The Forum to let out this loud gasp of shock and fear. God bless Dick Stockton for commenting on it and giving it further attention. CBS added a replay in slow motion, also. This event is worth rewatching hundreds of times. You won't find a better Michael Cooper moment.
