Imagine that song, written by your man when you were going through a divorce. Then the song is released just after the divorce and that man, is in your band, playing the guitar and standing right beside you, and YOU have to sing it. Could you do it? Agnetha did it and the emotion she put into it made it one of the best performances of her career. Within a week of their divorce, Bjorn had a new girlfriend and Agnetha had counselling.

alot of abba songs can be a lesson in how to compose music and lyrics! the drum & bass keeping a strong up tempo beat the piano bringing a bit lighter feel playing the tune she sings sometimes slightly behind,sometimes after her voice it's a sad song so she sings it at a lower level than the uptempo beat.the same few notes not going to low or high.then like most good songs it has a change in tempo slows down then goes back up.the lyrics stick to the narrative about love being like a game of cards with rules that the gods are in charge of and her feeling powerless.you can hear the emotion she puts in the last slow bit before the long notes.abba were made up of 2 couples who then divorced.the men wrote all the songs.
@MrGreencheetah2 жыл бұрын
very nicely analyzed!!! I am completely wowed by this song -- just discovered it recently myself! . . . perplexed at how the beginning of the up tempo beat seems to intensify the emotional feeling of the song . . . but for me it does.

Hello, do nice to see You for first time and I think it's your first reaction to ABBA songs ABBA is acronim with initials of Their first names, two swedish couples: Agnetha (blonde singer) & Björn (guitarist songwriter) Benny (pianist songwriter) & Anni Frida (brunette singer) "The winner takes it all" (1980) is one of the Best Songs by ABBA and the Most sad and emotional too The best lyrics and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation of the lead singer Agnetha The lyrics is a fiction, it is not about Their real life, although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences and the realization of the legal divorce in the middle of 1980, even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at end of 1978 These is a official video, in July 1980, is a Masterpiece too, you can see Agnetha sad and alone, and the others members of the group looks together and happy Is part of the contrast in ABBA songs ABBA have more than 20 worldwide hits between 1972/1982, included: Waterloo, Mamma Mía, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Knowing me knowing you, The name of the game, Take a chance on me, Súper Trouper (all these #1 in UK) and much more All these songs are in your album recopilation GOLD (1992) that a few mounths ago just arrives to 1.000 weeks at Top 100 in UK Official Charts (first group singer or artist to do it) And after almost .. ¡40 years! ABBA return to studios and recording initialy two new songs and finally a full album Voyage released in last November 2021 that is a worldwide success Now For a new reaction I suggest You "Waterloo" (1974), Their first worldwide hit, at Eurovision Song Contest, when ABBA schock the world with their victory between 17 songs of all Europe , and begin the Legend of ABBA kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXfWh5iDr5Z5a8U

One Night in Bangkok is a great song for you. It's not technically ABBA but it's written by the two guys who are members of ABBA. I feel it's kind of complex and would peak your interest. It was written for a play called Chess.
@paulqueripel34932 жыл бұрын
And Tim Rice. Everyone forgets him when they mention Chess (his idea originally). I suspect many of the double entendres were his , being the native English speaker and a lot of them were slang. From an interview. Tim: We took each scene from my story and worked out the plotline. Benny and Bjorn - largely Benny - would write a tune inspired by the theme, whether it was a love song, an argument or a crowd scene. Bjorn would create what was usually a very interesting mock lyric, often with no particular meaning, but some lovely lines. He was the link between me and Benny: me at the lyric end, Bjorn in the middle and Benny at the musical end.

This was written by Bjorn of Abba after his divorce from Agnetha (the blonde singer) ...They still had to work together in the studio after they had split (and also had 2 children) ... The title says it all about the drama of a relationship ending - the 'winner takes it all' and the loser goes home in defeat, but the irony was also that no one truly 'wins' in that heartbreak situation... 💔

Benny and Björn did ask Agnetha if she thought that the lyrics would be too difficult to sing, since she would be singing in the "first-person", but she, being a professional singer since the age of 17, did agree to go ahead and do the lead vocals on this timeless ABBA classic. This was their last Top 10 hit in the U.S.......but it was a Nº 1 throughout Europe. Many fans consider this a pop masterpiece, and their best song, musically and lyrically. ♫♫♪♪♪

According to May, Mercury wrote the song in a small house called "The Duck House" (seen on the album cover for Made in Heaven) in Montreux.[3] In the 1995 documentary Queen: Champions of the World, it was stated that this was, if not the first, then an extremely rare style of recording for Mercury, as it was all performed in one take live in the studio. It was stated in the film that Mercury had always insisted upon music being completed prior to the vocal arrangement beginning, but acknowledged that he had little time left and there was not enough time to work on it differently.
