I'm not getting over Andrew Scott. I'm in love with this man.

Have come late to this party but happened to watch Sea Wall on YT today…because I have so loved Andrew Scott…it is over ten years ago that it was staged. I’m grateful I didn’t see it any sooner as now our daughter is 22. To have watched this back in the day would have hot even harder. Appreciate being able to hear Simon fill in how the play came about. I did know he wrote it for Andrew to play Alex. I had my mouth open for the latter part …I felt stricken and yet there was hope. I will watch the film version of it again as I know there is more to squeeze out of it. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ

Andrew Scott is a brilliant actor: he invests every role he plays with such sincerity. Also, he played the best Hamlet that I’ve ever seen. Sea Wall is moving and magnificent.

Fuck, I love these two. Such an inspiring and warm conversation displaying real emotional intelligence and humanity. Well done to Sarah, too, for managing to keep the evening under some sort of control despite Simon and Andrew's best irreverent attempts. The only annoyance is that the audio is massively out of synch on certain camera angles which really does spoil enjoyment of a very interesting conversation.

there is a wonderful interview with just the two of them about an hour long about Seawall

Ok, the part about a theatre academic writing an essay about Andrew's arms felt extremely validating (and kinda funny). It's not just us his crazy stans and Phoebe Waller-Bridge that appreciate his beautiful arms. 20:17.

I just watched the film again whilst reading the script. I'm seriously in awe of Andrew. He will likely end up where Sir Ian Mckellen and Sir Anthony Hopkins are today. John Sivorn

Thank you so much for this. KZbin put it up in front of me while I was still sobbing after watching Sea Wall and it helped me recover. Also, both Andrew Scott and Simon Stephens say such interesting, thought-provoking things while being completely open and personal and "in the moment." Thank you, all, again.

Fascinating discussion...such synergy between Simon and Andrew. Really admire Andrew's ideas about being really present and engaged versus coming to a piece with lots of preconceived ideas or loads of research. His performances have a palpable sense of "aliveness" that is mesmerizing.

@@Ystadcop the line "his beautiful neck" is a reference to the second season of the amazing series, Fleabag which Andrew was in. I'm sure Sarah's comment is meant to be an inside joke and nothing more :)

@@Ystadcop Yes I took the production of Sea Wall seriously. Its a serious piece of theatre by a serious writer. Did you see it? If your post was not intended to condescendingly diminish Andrew Scott and Simon Stephens then I apologise as I have misread it. I am in Australia and Covid-19 has decimated our arts communities and we have not been included in any government funding or job keeper payments so it is in absolute crisis. In my country sport rules even though the arts makes more money and is supported by more people. Our politicians have a "luvvies" attitude too ("luvvies" colouring people as silly, lightweight, indulgent ), hence why our industry has been discounted. Your comment stung even though I hope that was not the intention. I will go and relax now as requested.

@@lucindaarmour7422 Lucinda, if you look at comments under the broadcast, you will see that I gave it great praise for the writing and acting. I also added that I would have preferred it as a radio play as the visual was superfluous to the dialogue. The writer gave this a "like" and a return comment. I grew up throughout the 50s and 60s in a house that provided theatrical "digs." Actors and actresses, comedians, dancers, musicians and production staff regularly displaced me from my bedroom but the upside was that I absorbed their humour and often rather eccentric outlook on life. Massive egos abounded, I have to disclose this gem..... And many of them refused to take themselves seriously (the actors that is) as they spent their lives pretending to be other people. Lucinda, many of them precisely fitted the bill as "luvvies," I'm sure that with your considerable experience in "the profession" you'll have to agree. Of course, being of my generation I am very influenced by that mighty organ (that's me camping it up) Private Eye and its Luvvie column. I'm sorry you're having a tough time of it, but not as tough as me, I'll be bound. Anyway, all the best and perhaps one day I'll vader your old eeks.

@@Ystadcop Thank you so much for this context. I really appreciate it. I totally understand where you are coming from now. I have some small insight into what growing up in theatrical digs may have been like in the 50s and 60s and now see that your comment is one filled with deep affection. All the very best to you, your family and friends and to the UK through this extremely tough time. Stay safe and well.
