Thankfully my 03 car 'Niki' didn't have water getting into this part of the car,...'everywhere else' mind you..:( It is a real issue with these cars, more so the earlier models/years I feel,....but then what Japanese cars doesn't have issue/issues with corrosion/water ingress.

@@AdDaManGT all of the wheel spin of 1-2-3 plus the fact, that it is boosted by gear, 6th gear can put down all the power and torque to the wheels, so that was my logic. could be wrong.

@@mariogocars Fairly logical yes, but its drivetrain shock that usually snaps shafts, ive done a few and its usually when on boost and you hit a small pot hole or something in the road. 6th gear roll is more likely to kill the clutch/gearbox/ send a rod as that is peak load.

I forgot to mention, my car was a NA 'totally standard' untouched silver 2003 model. That if it hadn't 'rotted out' from the bottom up, I'm sure I may have still had today. Then again I'd probably still have the FTO & MR2's if they hadn't also have rotted in various places. Japanese cars-(roll eyes),...you've gotta love e'm..:)) Despite there sadly obvious & numerous 'tin worm/rot' issues. My current 'Bertone' named 'Charlie'-(yes I name all my cars..:)) in fact is the best car I have ever had/owned, as it is both mechanically sound, '&' has no issues 'whatsoever' with rust or corrosion. Which ain't bad at all for a 16 year old car..:))
