You know D-man, you really know how to write some real shit. Your opening scene put me in the mind of those latter Emperors. I almost pity them, growing up knowing how much may be theirs but how large the burden put upon them may be. Can you seriously imagine the running of an Empire the size of most of Europe. Would anyone? It's no surprise they were all crap, in a world in which it was impossible to see truly how alliances and armies moved without late, inaccurate intelligence. Goddamn. Yeah, for that time the empire had grown too big. It must have sucked to rule that. If you were done with one issue from one part of the empire, you would have a hundred other issues, all from different parts waiting and you were expected to know how to resolve them...

That's not exactly how the Roman Empire worked dude but okay. And I am not sure if they really cared. It's not like "they ruled everything or took care of everything", there was some kind of autonomy, at least in the "old times" of the Empire, not sure about the late times. I mean, yeah it's a great burden but the corruption...

Pedro Joao agreed the problem ironically was the fact that so many people dealt with different problems that bureaucracy corrupted the empire

One was the Corruption of the Bureaucracy, stong-headed Emperors, Jack ass Nerio, the down grading of the Army, the weaking of the Economy, and of course the splitting of the Empire. The major middle figure was the splitting of the Empire. Because, Western Rome's economy was so weakened from the endless Wars, and rampant Corruption. That western Rome need the East's economy. Makes you wounder if the Republic would have faired any better then the Empire. But that's lost to time, thanks to Ceaser, and Jack ass Cato.

Devin, perhaps Camulodunum should be a military port, seeing as it is attacked regularly, and its people are good at fending off the Barbarians, it'd be a cool nod to all of these skirmishes that have happened there

I know this is an old comment... But I had done just that as well as build a guard post, once both were built, the WRE attacked and I smashed their army. They sued for peace and abandoned Latin Christianity for Greco-Roman Paganism 😄

Yeah I should put it on my site somewhere... it's nvidia 970 graphics, 8gn ram, 8 i7s doing the work. Basically a middlingly expensive computer from about a year ago, works great for pretty much everything.

honestly your portrayal of the roman emperor is more sympathetic than he should be. the way i see it he is a naive kid filled with a court of yes men who dont have the balls to point out to him what he should do, advice he probably would accept and use to protect his empire.

It's called Imperium Praetoria, which on its own adds a new faction with the old school units, but there's another mod that lets the regular roman factions recruit them.
