Mark Knopfler is my hero. I truly LOVE his music, guitar playing, songwriting, story telling. The feel and emotion behind his playing is magical, to me. Heard the music of Dire Straits in ‘78 and fell in love with it all. At 62 years young, I’m watching videos of Mark on YT doing whatever. Grateful that there’s so much stuff to learn more about him. I saw Dire Straits in the Boston area, March of 1992. I dropped off a card and letter to his hotel explaining multiple surgical issues with both hands (I play guitar), leaving my wrists totally fused and asked if he would consider signing my guitar. The concert was one I’ll never forget! 31 years ago…..where has time gone??? His music has ALWAYS touched my heart and I never tire of it. There’s so much to love and enjoy. Two nights after the concert I received a call…..from Mark himself. 💃🏼😳 At 31 yrs old, I should’ve been calm, cool and collected after hearing who was calling…..but, I was shocked and remember saying OMG a few times. Mark was so gracious and offered to meet me at ‘quarter till 11’ the next morning!! He was everything you’d expect. So VERY kind and concerned. We talked a bit about me trying the keyboard given the inability to move my wrists. He happily signed my white 1988 Gibson ES-335 showcase edition (200 made). I’ll never forget that day as it’s etched in my heart. So very grateful to him. Peace, love & prayers to all, Denise from MA

The mans a credit to British music. One of the last living legendary rockers. Maybe it's just me but do you ever hear a guitar style and just know who it is? Gilmour, Knopfler etc are just instantly recognizable, nobody cares if you can shred at 100mhp, try playing with the class and simplicity knopfler does and make it sound so exquisite. Unreal talent.

Minor observation: always loved Mark's singing (ignoring his guitar mastery and songwriting talent for the moment). Always understated, sober - no grandstanding, just delivers the vocals in a steady, melancholy tone that really amps up the lyrics. A big part of his sound and the attraction of his songs. Keep on, Mr. K.

One thing I just noticed about this song is that, with its' catchy tune and upbeat first lyrics, you think it's going to be just a simple little tune, but by the time you get to the last verse, it's turned really dark. Mark, among all the other things he excels at, is an epic poet. There's just so much behind the lyrics that you can sense, and the fact that the tune is so catchy is sublime. What a genius!

So I told Rich Garcia, the DJ, that I'm going to Anthony's pizza if he wants anything and Knopfler said that sounds good and would I mind if he joined. Another great song.....I'm so hooked on this music, I don't even want to listen to anything else. The more I search, I find more and more great songs. I've grown up to his music back in the 70s and 80s. New generations and he just gets better...Mark's music just flows through your soul. Keep on playing that guitar.🎸🎸

From the Straits to Chet to solo stuff for my 35+ yrs of listening, it's always been an unwavering great tone and pristine soul.

I remember playing this song the summer I moved to California after graduating high school. It was 14 years ago since I last heard this but it feels just like yesterday now. Thanks for sharing!

My 13 year old son has been working on this song. He’s not amazing, but I’m extremely proud of his progress, AND his taste in music.

Sad that no one from my class is listening to this handsome artist, and to his beautiful songs that keep a lot of emotions and power

When you can't decide what's better, lyrics or sound, you know an artist is a legend. Thanks Mark, you have no comparison.
