Hey Knights! Today we dive into the depths of The Meg (2018) for the very first time. Join us on this exhilarating journey as we share our genuine reactions to the colossal shark adventure that has captivated audiences around the world. This film is filled with underwater suspense, jaw-dropping moments, and massive creature encounters that made it one of the wildest shark movies we've watched all year!
What is worse than a Great White shark? That's right a Megalodon that's trying to figure out where it fits in the food chain. Something tells us we are not gonna like the answer! In this thrilling film, we'll witness the discovery of the ancient megalodon, a prehistoric predator thought to be extinct. As we navigate the high-stakes mission to confront this monstrous creature we'll be adding our usual input on some of the films many aspects!
We hope you enjoy our reactions and commentary as we delve into the film's impact on the monster movie genre, its place in the world of aquatic thrills, and the technological achievements that make The Meg an absolute blast. After watching films like Jaws or Deep Blue Sea this one has it's own place in the genre.
Thank you guys so much for watching this with us!

Based on the novel of the same name by Steve Alten. It took them 20 years to make this movie happen. A lot of directors Guillermo Del Toro, Eli Roth, and Jan De Bont, were considered for making the project. It made $530 million dollars against a $178 million dollar budget.

I absolutely love ridiculous monster movies (as well as disaster movies), it’s my guilty pleasure. shark movies are a fav of mine, i love sharks, they’re beautiful creatures. i wrote a college paper about the “jaws effect” and how sensationalizing random shark attacks and killer shark movies led to millions of shark deaths over the years, & how people are more dangerous to them than they are to us. still, as long as people understand it’s fiction, it’s such a fun & entertaining sub genre of films 😁😁

I swam with Dolphins before. Even though I knew they were super friendly, and got to meet and pet them before we went in the deep with them...there is nothing you can do to prevent the instinctual anxiety and fear you have when you're floating along at the top of the water, starring down into the dark depths, only to see a huge shadow come out of that darkness and head straight for you. Thank god they were only warm and friendly Dolphins, that wanted to play. Side note, it was super fun swimming and playing with them. They'd let you hang on to their fins while they swam around at the water line, they'd also do this thing where if you were laying straight out on your stomache, and had your feet out straight out behind you, they'd swim up and propel you forward with their noses at wild speeds. To the point where you'd almost be standing straight up going through the water. They were also suprisingly warm, and soft to the touch, like velvety and warm. Such cool creatures.

Megalodon lived in the Early Miocene epochs a time when mammals started to rule the Earth after the extinction of the dinosaurs. This predator lived around 26 million years ago all the way to the Early Pliocene. This animal ruled the oceans and hunted whales (where you saw it did to the whale family), giant squid, sea turtles, and other sharks. It was the apex predator of its time but it had competed against another predatory whale named Livyatan, and Brygmophyseter. It's the ancestor of the Great White Shark, but scientists differ on whether it would have more closely resembled a stockier version of the great white shark, the basking shark, or the sand tiger shark. But as water temperatures began to get cooler, the Ice Age began to change its habitat and the food became scares or for some unknown reason, around 3 million years ago the Megalodon fated into extinction. But some people believe this fish might be lurking somewhere out there in the oceans as part of the cryptozoology. But we don't know.

Saw a video where Rainn Wilson talked about sitting next to a guy on a plane watching the office for the entire flight, which he acted in and is most well known for. Rainn said he never got into it and the guy defended it, then he took off his face mask slowly and talked to him. It took almost a minute for the realization to sink in then the guys mind was blown. As a big fan of the office, with some small reservations, I thought it was funny. It's great Rainn Wilson is in this, Super, and Star Trek: Discovery. Hope to see him in more things.

Actually it was Pipit but close enough. I hated that part of the movie. I did read, however that Spielberg offered an alternate idea of what happened. He was getting feedback from people complaining about that segment and he responded by saying that maybe, just maybe, Pipit didn’t belong to the guy throwing the stick. Maybe he was a neighbors dog who just decided he was tired of chasing the stick and went home. Pipit wasn’t, perhaps, eaten by the shark at all. I can live with that!

Great reaction. A fun movie. And starring Jason Statham as... Jason Statham. 😂

If you have a chance i recommend reading the book that the movie is based on Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, it's a good read. I was in high school when I read it and waited 10 years for a movie to be made and I wasn't disappointed.

Dr Heller dying is a huge waste AFTER he’s patched things up with Jonas. There’s huge potential for character growth there. Heller could’ve gone from biggest critic to greatest ally.

22:16 Yup every team. Even The Italian Job. But, there's still comic book movie adaptation teams.....or is he just too cool for all that? Yea, he's too cool for it. Boys, Avengers, JLA: he's not interested. Stop calling. LOL

So.....this is a year old but anyway...massive animals creep up on you pretty well, actually. On my 40th birthday I swam with whale sharks, all over 20 feet long and one a full 30. Naturally, that was the one that snuck up on me. You'd think a person would notice an animal the size of a schoolbus heading right for you, but oh boy I sure didn't, until my world went brown and polka-dotty. I was in no danger, as I had been told that whale sharks on the whole have the average IQ as a jar of mayonnaise and I don't think she even noticed me rolling down her back and wondering what the hell just happened. Also you mentioned how well the references to Jaws were but I think you missed Pippen. That was the name of the dog that was eaten in Jaws. Or at least implied eaten. All that was shown is the stick floating and no dog.
