Most people miss it. When grandpa lifts his hand to turn down the TV after shooting the 2 guys, you can see he has the same tatoo as hutch. Indicating he was in the same line of work.
@batmanvsjoker77253 сағат бұрын
Honestly, the bus scene is what sold me on this movie. The simple fact that Hutch gets hit and injured as well. Even if you know what you're doing, you can't just start a fight like that and expect to walk out without a scratch. Plus, this man hadn't done this for a while now. Of course he was gonna be rusty. It made the fight feel more real.
@Lokogar663 сағат бұрын
There is a scene during the credit roll, make sure if you missed it, to go back and check it out. Supposed to have a sequel in the works currently and Bob Odenkirk credits the training for this film to get into shape with saving his life after he had a heart attack.
@CannonRaw4 сағат бұрын
Something that needs to be known more. Bob Odenkirk had a heart attack a few years ago. With all the training he did to get into shape it actually helped. The reason is he trained a certain muscle I believe. So he was able to keep going during his heart attack.

His tattoo depicting a 7 of Spades and a 2 of Diamonds, which is considered the statistically worst possible starting hand in Texas Hold'em poker, symbolizing that he is a "nobody" or someone with seemingly low potential, but is actually a highly skilled and dangerous individual when provoked; essentially, a "sleeper" with a hidden dark side

For those wondering about the tattoo on "Nobody's wrist".... it is a 2 and 7 "off suit" cards. Considered the worst possible hand in poker (specifically Texas Hold'em) because it is 2 low cards, so even a "pair" can be beaten..... it is also 2 cards so far apart that you need the entire "river" to come up in order to get a "straight", still considered a weak hand overall, yet again easily beaten. So the tat represents a "rough hand in life" where the only way to "win" would be to "get a straight" (government involvement) ..... indicating that you are doing "off the books work for government agencies". It is basically a "special operations" tat, that if you notice closely when gramp's turns the volume down, he has one on his wrist as well. So, basically special forces trained in the military, then additional special (secret) work for the government. Which is why the vet at the shop goes "okay, I'm out of here.... good luck everyone" and locks the door behind him.

My interpretation is that when his son was born, he left the life because he needed to be a dad. And that’s pronounced when things began to change. Then his daughter was born, and the real rift started. He was just a man whose intentions were good but it led to a life of monotony that changed even his wife against him. But at least he tried. Watch “88” for a darker Christopher Lloyd.

Some information. The director's name is Ilya Nishuller. This is his second movie. The first film was Hardcore Henry. In one podcast, he said that he was willing to do anything to get Christopher Lloyd in this movie. And it turned out that Loiyd was very happy with any offer. He was especially excited to be a part of an action movie at his age The plot of the movie actually happened to Bob Odenkirk. One morning Bob's son said: "Dad, we have some dude in the basement." It turned out that the drugged man climbed into their house at night. Bob called the police and locked the basement door. One of the cops said the same thing as the character in the movie, "If it were my family, I would have done it differently." Bob was so offended by this phrase that he decided to write a script about a guy who retired from being an assassin, but was damn tired of the routine.

Probably a great example of why complexity and a development arc is important for your action hero. Great and explosive action scenes are well enough on their own and there is no shortage here but giving Hutch a complicated character and inner demons to overcome is what I think brings this movie over the finish line and makes for something a little more endearing and memorable.

Also, the "just like old times" with the wife is an indicator that she used to be a nurse or doctor at one point (likely a nurse due to going into retail), and that they ran into each other early in their careers and formed a relationship over time. Later hints indicate that she never knew his "real job", only that he would get hurt. So, possibly someone who worked either on a military base in the infirmary and used more than other medical people, OR at a "nearby" hospital in the "ER" that allowed him to slip in and out for treatment if needed. But by the way she instantly went into "clean and sue" mode indicates that she was not only trained, but USED TO treating knife cuts and other injuries from fist-fights more than gun-fights.

Never forget the old adage. “Beware of an old man in a profession where men usually die young. Old warriors did not get old by accident; they got old by being wise, having the right knowledge, and being tough. Never underestimate an old man who has grown up in a rough profession or a rough environment. These men have been around. They have done things, and experienced things, that you probably have never even thought about. They are tough, their minds are tough, and they have the knowledge, the skill, and the will to finish you off, if you force them to do so. A boy will fight you, but an older man will hurt you.”

If he was sitting outside, all the big dogs in the neighborhood knew him. They would drag their owners to the opposite side of the street to avoid him. We told people if they brought their kids over to keep them away from the cat. Inevitably the kid would try to pet the cat and he would corner them and scratch them in their faces. He would sit on the couch with us like a human. Don't touch him though. He did other, worse things, but that's not youtube comment section friendly. Guy earned every bit of his name.

I remember in the 2010’s, older actors were looking for their “Taken” action franchise, and now they’re looking for their “John Wick” franchise. I think this movie somehow falls into both haha. A total gem. Also, this movie is a total parody of “toxic masculinity”. Hutch seemingly reflects every insecurity that a guy who’s insecure in his masculinity would have. All of the other men in his life second guessing him, his wife & kids not respecting him, and Hutch swallowing his anger. The brilliance of this movie is that while the movie features toxic masculinity, it isn’t ABOUT toxic masculinity, because literally the ONLY scenario where the movie’s take on masculinity isn’t toxic is if Hutch was secretly a badass murderer and the “weak suburban dad” stereotype is a facade.

Hutch's tattoo that made the old guy in the tattoo parlor run in fear is a seven-deuce, the worst hand in poker. It's implied that Hutch is a part of some very secretive, very dangerous military unit. Adding a comment I found online: You can see clearly that the cards are facing away from the character in the tattoo (as in, how one would hold their cards in their hand), it is not the wearer who is holding the cards. Instead the wearer is showing the opposite their own cards (which is why the position of the wrist makes sense here). So the interpretation of it is, imo, that if you see this tattoo you see a 7-2 in your hands, meaning that by meeting this person you just got dealt the worst possible hand by them. You are best off never meeting them.
@waterbeauty852 сағат бұрын

7 & 2, Mansell's tattoo, signifies the worst hand one could get statistically, for Texas Hold Em and the suits (one spade, one diamond) and coins refer to money & death. It basically translates that he was part of a unit that did horrific acts for money, hence why the veteran panicked.

I think George from Cinebinge said it best when he called this movie the ultimate "Dad Revenge Fantasy". XD Such a fun movie!
