Making this movie is when Paul and Linda fell in love for real. They were together for 26 years (1988-2014) and have one Son. Even split-up they are still close. Paul Hogan made one of the best/sweetest movie deals in Hollywood history. He pocketed half of the money from these movies made. Like 100 million off the first film alone. I highly recommend watching a Biography on Paul Hogan. He has had a crazy rags to rich life. Blue-Collar worker to Movie-Star! If anything watch his speech at the Oscars. So funny! Also, it's one of the very few sequels in movie history that managed to keep the charm and spark of the original and build upon it.

There's a bit of a genre shift here. The first movie is primarily a romcom told in a series of vignettes following Mick around, with his relationship with Sue loosely tying it together. This one is much more of an action-comedy with a focused plot and an actual villain (and he's a pretty NASTY one, too). "Leroy Brown's" name is a reference to the song Bad, Bad Leroy Brown by folk singer Jim Croce (probably most famously known for "Time in a Bottle," which you saw featured prominently in Days of Future Past). The titular Leroy Brown is a tough from Chicago with a dangerous reputation, but who picks the wrong fight and ends up badly beaten. One of Rico's goons (the one who gets swapped with the goana near the end) is played by Luis Guzman. This was actually Stephen Root's FIRST film role. Rico wants to kill Sue so she can't testify against him. Criminal cases HAVE fallen apart when witnesses end up dead or disappeared. If there's Eucalyptus anywhere near that fire that whole place is gonna go up (Eucalyptus oil is HIGHLY flammable).

The lawnmower was a non-electric, non-battery, non-gas, all human muscle mower. There's a blade on the bottom that has to be kept sharp while the rotating blades slide the grass into the sharp blade as a human being pushes the mower. I started mowing lawns with one when I was 12 or 13 for 50¢ minimum. 75¢ to $1 for bigger lawns. Edging was with a flat spade that you pushed between the soil and the concrete. I got a pretty good workout mowing neighbors lawns. Between my paper route and mowing lawns I managed to save enough money to buy a 1952 International panel truck for $50 that I used to deliver bundles of papers to the different stations in my section of Miami where the local managers distributed the papers. By the time I was 18 I had saved enough money to pay for 1 year tuition at the University of Florida.

Not as charming, but I knew a dude like Mic from backwoods West Virginia. Met him in the Marine Corps and we became fast friends. He cultivated the same kind of cool that Mic did. He was a hyper intelligent dude, but would act like 'I don't nothin bout that. I'm just some backwoods country boy.' Meanwhile he's memorizing insanely technical 1040 page mechanical manuals at night, just so that at some point down the road he could pull that knowledge out and have everyone look at him like a dog playing piano. If anyone asked how he knew such insanely technical crap, he'd say something like 'Well it just makes sense don't it.' A lot of country boys play that little game, but I never met one that did it better than him.

Quigley Down Under (for Australia) and Almost An Angel for Paul Hogan. Or his fun western Lightning Jack, if you can find it.

6:17 There was a song by Jim Croce called *Bad, Bad Leroy Brown* about a Chicago gangster. That's why he felt he had to look tough. EDIT: Leroy actually gets his butt kicked at the end of the song, though.
Talk about nostalgia! I adored this movie when I was a kid.

The second man dundee took hostage in the bush was the same actor who you would know as 'Ortiz' from the movie Speed.

You’ve seen Stephen Root (Milton from Office Space) in a few things now. I was wondering if you would ever recognize him.

I should have waited till Australia Day to watch this, but great reaction, one of my favourite movies. They kept the magic of the first which is a rare achievement.

The actor you asked if he was American is Gus Mercurio, American-Australian actor, a boxing commentator. His son Paul Mercurio is a professional dancer and was in anther classic Aussie movie, Strictly Ballroom.

Indiana Jones stands a tier above.... no question. However I have always loved the Crocodile series and the (slightly better to me) Romancing the Stone films. They are a treat and both have heart. Fun watch

Yay....You got there at last Ladies...been waiting for this one! A sequel that lives up to the first one. He upset some people in real life because he left his wife after falling in love on set. She turned her back on Hollywood and acting for love and that upset a few people in LA too as she was the new upcoming star.

I think the reason some folks think Aussies are cool is because they are not pretentious. We don't like class systems, so we treat people the same, whether they're a VIP or a Barista.

Reckon Aboriginals/Torres Strait Islanders would agree ? Or immigrants ? (always interesting to see how people see themselves, even when it's maybe more how they _aspire_ to be than what their track record actually reflects - not a particular dis BTW, we all kid ourselves in _some_ respects. Or I haven't come across any that don't at least)
