A very different take from the caste system of the original concept, where Decepticons were all Gladiators/warriors and Autobots were all Miners/builders/workers. They freed themselves from the Quintessions who built them but fundamentally believed in a different Cybertron because of how they were programmed. As an OG transformer fan, am really happy with this reinterpretation. It gives us a very personal story where D-16 and Orion Pax are in the same place and showing how their journey divides them into who they are. It makes it even more of a tragedy and resonates more with the audience than that original concept. I was legit sad during the scenes leading up to them becoming their final forms.

It's actually brilliant because now whenever Starscream talks It's a permanent reminder that he got his ass beaten. I especially love that Megatron is naive to power dynamics, but his naive sincerity is what what ended up ruling the day over Starscreams clear-eyed understanding of said power dynamics. Starscream future faked, and it took someone who didn't understand the consequences to stand up to him. Starscream appears to have a firm grasp on his situation and is bowing down for now, but you know he's gonna plot and scheme to take power back. I would actually love to see their relationship, one based purely on power right now, develop into a mixture of hatred and begrudging respect on Starscreams part. I would love to see a conflict in the next movie where Starscream is given the chance to save Megatron or stand back and let him die, and he is stuck between the two options.

This is THE best Transformer movie ever made, because it stands on its own using the whole lore of the franchise, you can literally use it as a prequel of almost every present story where the bots arrive to Earth. The transformation of Orion and D-16 to Optimus and Megatron is just perfect, the parallels are perfect, and just to add more emotion to the scene...when Optimus voice breaks saying his friend betrayed him, you can see that MEGATRON WAS CRYING realizing all he just did, but the rage against the name "Prime" took over him again...man, that´s just heartbreaking.

Their bromance is so sad because of how it ends up, they seemed so inseparable.. Also, D-16 technically kept his promise of killing Orion if they survived the race at the end of the film when he fatally shoots Orion. Also also, I saw someone point out that the only reason D-16 snapped and became Megatron is because he's unable to take responsibility for his own actions, it's always the fault of someone else. He couldn't admit that his actions are the reason that Orion got shot, and because of that being unable to take responsibility he was "done saving" Orion and snapped.

"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned." -William Congreve D-16/Megatron is tragic example of that quote in action. He had so much respect and admiration for Sentinel, only to find out it was all a lie and that Sentinel was behind all the suffering D-16 and the other miners endured, not to mention the wider consequences for their planet as a whole. So rage and hatred quickly consume D-16/Megatron; he starts by wanting to expose Sentinel, march him in chains through the city, and leave him to die in darkness. Then he wants to kill Sentinel personally, then everything with Sentinel's image on it, then all his supporters, and finally everyone that Megatron perceives as being against him. And in the end, Megatron will become a bigger tyrant that Sentinel ever was, and destroy far more as well.

Also, this is a revision of the original story. The Quintessons built Cybetron as a massive factory. All Cybertronians were service robots/slaves. Robot means slave. Autobots were for domestic use. Decepticons were for military solutions. They rebelled against the Quintessons and expelled them. But eventually turned on each other because Decepticons only know authoritarianism and Autobots wanted co-existence. D16 was a gladiator and Orion Pax a factory worker before over throwing their masters. I still LOVE this fresh take. Transformers One has a great message. Paramount truly failed this movie during its theatrical run in cinemas because the trailers and marketing truly did not do this fantastic movie enough justice. This movie is arguably the *BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE MADE* and everything from the animation, the story/world building, the music, the action and choreography, and of course the great voice acting truly made this my favourite movie of the year. I especially have to give praise to Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry's excellent performances as Optimus and Megatron as they really embodied both their respective characters so well and made you genuinely believe Orion and D-16's friendship and how close they were but the moment the truth is revealed to them both their perspectives have changed but in different directions as you can understand both of their beliefs but the tragedy of their downfall is all the more heartbreaking. It's truly remarkable how this origin helps recontextualizes almost every form of Transformers media giving audiences a deeper understanding of why Optimus and Megatron are enemies, how the Autobots and Decepticons began, what led to the Civil War on Cybertron and so much more. We desperately need a sequel because one guy on Twitter did more promotion and sold this movie better than Paramount ever did. A story this good deserves a trilogy and regardless of the box office results, the amount of overwhelming love from both critics and audiences, hopefully this influences Paramount to give this movie the sequel it deserves

I learned about it long after I watched the movie, but it turned out that the composer of this movie, is Brian Tyler! Same guy that did the music for Transformers: Prime! And you can actually hear some bits of the sad theme from the show in the scene where Orion is granted the Matrix! You two should really watch that show, it's AMAZING!

28:30 - Kinda reminds me of Zod's ship in "Man of Steel". 28:40 - Sentinal Prime was also a traitor in the live-action "Dark of the Moon".

yeah but in DOTM, at least Sentinel has a semi-decent motive, his entire planet was ravaged by the Autobot and Decepticon War, he simply wants to restore it to it's former glory the issue is that he views his race as superior to humans in EVERY single way, to him; worrying about our needs is like worrying about the wellbeing of the ants, pigeons and other wild animals in an area where you're planning on putting a city... he says "F**k these animals, they aren't important!"

First of all yes finally. As a transformers fan I loved this movie. But also i just saw your video with the reel rejects and gotta say I love you guys even more! One of the most amazing channels. Being able to sit down and watch you guys while eating lunch whether its my break at work or at home literally make my day.

In light of recent events, I kinda understand Megatron's feelings. Either way, we must collectively stand together, no matter what.

Yeah, what defines a Transformer is the Spark in his core, while his T-Cog taps to his personality and defines his power, strength and artillery!

I discovered your channel with the Deadpool and Wolverine reaction and really loved it! Especially the girl (I don’t know her name) is really awesome and expressive when she reacts so I was looking forward to your reaction to this! Needless to say, subbed and can’t wait to see what you guys react to next!

I love how in this universe, Megatronus Prime is not a traitor to the other primes.

17:13 I don’t think they were ever going to Sentinel’s personal service facility based on this line at 42:39 where the miners were told they died from their injuries during the race.

Even though it's not a prequel to any films or shows it still hits hard especially with most iterations of Optimus and Megatron stating that they were brothers in arms before being sworn enemies "We were brothers once" - Megatron "Once" - Optimus Prime 🥲

This movie 's action is perfect. The way each transformers use their vehicle parts in a fight scene like starscream using his jet rocket in megatron's face, airachnid using her helicopter spinning thing to block the gun and megatron transforming his lego to kick starscream and his cannon to hit optimus in the face and even dodging attacks like optimus prime in the final fight

You not wrong about the Hero Journey, i think the reason why it so easy to watch this movie is that you can map out the Hero Journey of this movie. You can really tell how Orion Pax and D-16 going to become Optimus Prime and Megatron and it was heartbreaking even if you what going to come....

I wasn't sure about seeing this Transformers movie in theaters after so many had been made, but now I regret NOT seeing it. The origin stories is incredible and to painfully see how Megatron's and Optimus Prime's friendship came to it's end

You can really tell that this movie was made with a lot of love and respect for the fans. All the little callbacks to the G1 Transformers cartoon are such a delight.

So many great little details. Like how D/Megatron’s eyes change both color and intensity. When Orion says “don’t be like Sentinel”, you can see some of the red slowly appear in the center. Then when he’s in full rage mode not only do the eyes turn red but the rest of the socket glows red. And then that glow disappears when Optimus banished him. When it truly hits that they are no longer friends.

Just got done watching the interview with the rejects. I've been watching y'all for a while now, but just happy for you two and hope you gain some more subscribers from their channel if they end up enjoying your content. Speaking of animated movies, I highly recommend The Wild Robot to be put on the list (replaced Inside Out 2 as my best animated film this year by a wide margin). Keep doing you! I haven't seen this movie so can't watch the reaction yet, so just sending love your way.
