Actually he's dying right now. The process that turned him into sandman was destabilizing and sooner he would just become sand. It's like cancer for him. So when they cured him, they also saved his life. That's also why he's only in sand form and can't seem to maintain his shape. It was a great way to use the character without using the actor. There's a comics that shows this same situation of his body slowly disintegrating and SM takes him to a beach to chill in his final hours.

@@tobsonasanya4765 hm? Sandman is dying? The real world reason was filming with the actor was difficult and could only do a voice role, in universe Sandman was falling apart. If you notice before NWH he never had difficulty maintaining a solid form, now in NWH every move he makes is spilling sand or disrupting the shape, it's because the process that made him Sandman is falling apart and he is reverting back to plain old sand, in short he is dying.

I don't think we have seen Strange's parents. Batman's no kill rule is not there to honour his parents' death. Even if it is, it is a weird way to put it. The reason why he chooses not to kill is because he wants to keep his commitment to do what he set out to do and not become consumed by revenge and crime fighting. His parents' death might be a contributor because they were killed and he does not want to be a killer. It is his way of seperating himself from criminals and vigilantes he fights. The rule means he has drawn a line which helps him stand on the side of justice. Steven was a neuro surgeon before practising mystical arts. His job as a surgeon was to save people's lives.

I feel like this is one of the most divisive scenes in the whole movie. There's people who will side with Strange and think Peter is being irrational and people who side with Peter and will call Strange heartless or arrogant and some people who see the merit in both and would have a much harder time making a solid decision. Personally, I'm with Strange on this one, which made it a bit tougher to root for Spider-Man in his own movie, because I kept thinking: 'Well, whatever happens next, it's all on you, Peter. You had your chance to let Strange fix this and you chose to defy that and go your own way.' I still enjoyed the movie and thought it was one of the best Spider-Man movies they've made yet, but I did have trouble supporting the motivation they tried to give Peter. Usually, it's easy to be on the side of the hero. Not necessarily so in this movie. Maybe it is for some, but not for all.
@Robertws
@Robertws Жыл бұрын
I also agree with Strange, but I think you miss the point that the movie is trying to make. Sending them home straight away is the safe, easy thing to do, let them fulfill their fate and move on. On the other hand, helping them, curing them of their physical and mental problems is much harder, much riskier, but (for Peter) it's the right thing to do, to give them a chance at living when they get sent back. How could Peter live up to being a responsibility his powers give him, to help everyone and anyone he can, if he turns a blind eye to these people in need of help? The way I see it, the risk of unleashing the five very dangerous super villains into New York and possibly getting alot of people killed isn't worth trying to help them, but for Peter he feels like he at least has to try.
@Xylarxcode
@Xylarxcode Жыл бұрын
@@Robertws It's not just the people in the city that are at risk, though. Strange makes it very clear that the villains just being in Peter's world threatens to unravel the very fabric of the multiverse, putting who even knows how many lives at risk. Strange says it himself: 'In the grand calculus of the multiverse, their sacrifice means infinitely more than their lives.' He also feels genuinely sorry for Peter that this decision needs to be made, but you can't risk the destabilization of other worlds just because you have a bleeding heart for what will happen to them. It's tragic and we all empathize, but they need to go back or else everything will devolve into chaos. I just couldn't support Peter's decision to try and cure them over sending them back right away, even if it means their death. It's not just the safe and easy thing to do, it's the only logical thing. You can't risk this many lives for the sake of a few, however regrettable their fates may be. It's just not justifiable. Ofcourse, Peter's plan ended up working out and he gave them their better fate, but he couldn't have known it would work out. He followed his heart and in so doing, he risked a lot more than he had any right to. If it hadn't worked out as he intended, things would have turned to shit real fast. I had a very difficult time supporting that decision, which is an interesting development in a superhero movie, because usually cheering for the good guy is easy.
@Robertws
@Robertws Жыл бұрын
@@Xylarxcode Yeah, kinda forgot about the whole 'unraveling the multiverse' thing, and like I said I do agree with you and Dr Strange, but I don't think that Peter's decision was purely 'bleeding heart' as you say. Obviously he wants to help them, but he believes he _can_ help them with the tech and knowledge he has, plus he knows he has at least a little bit of time before the multiverse unravels and they have to be sent back home since it didn't unravel straight away. Not only that, they also have the means to send them back in case it didn't work. It was still risky, dangerous (to a potentially infinite amount of people), but like I said Peter at least want to _try_ to help them in any way he can.

If you have a chance to stop a villian without killing them you should always take that option first, Peter isn't just thinking this on a whim he KNOWS he has the techonology to help them. The moral question of is it right to kill a villian is always a good one to have. And the other Spidermen agree with Peter on this too along with Aunt May, this is also a case of Strange thinking he has the solution and refusing to buckle aka he had to be the one holding the knife. If he had listened to Peter he could've helped keep the Vilians in check while Peter worked on curing them.

Heroes and Villians become juvenile concepts when you're talking about the multiverse. Millions of different universes, similar universes and everything in between with trillions upon trillions of lifeforms inhabiting them, and they're all interconnected. What affects one WILL affect the others. Maintaining the balance is a thankless task which I imagine only by doing it would anyone begin to understand to complexity and the importance of the task.

@@keithadams7619 i think it's more of a moral issue for me. They are living beings most of whom had just been brought back from the dead only to be told they're being sent back to their times and universes. @@veemonfan8102 don't get me wrong, I think it's great Peter was able to find a way to resolve the problem without compromising on his values. That said, Strange was willing to try and accommodate Peter knowing the consequences could be catastrophic (even going so far as seemingly lying to Wong to get him to stay out of it), and we know how that worked out. Like I said, Strange's position is an unenviable one. Keeping an equilibrium across the multiverse to keep this cosmic house of cards from collapsing on itself. Think of it as a pair of scales ⚖ with a button underneath each plate wired to detonate a thermonuclear bomb when pressed. Each good or evil deed is added to each of the scales in turn, too much weight on one side or the other will set off a catastrophic chain of events (like that shown in No Way Home, and likely Multiverse of Madness as well). As such Strange has the unenviable job of making sure neither side gains the upper hand, which can lead to a course of action he clearly doesn't want to do, but has to, to maintain the balance (like giving the Time Stone to Thanos, or reversing the spell Peter botched).

Based on where each was plucked from the timeline, most of the dead ones would still die after being cured. Norman Osborn might be okay if it was back to before he pushed the button to launch his glider at spiderman, so he can just choose not to and survive. Doctor Octavius would still drown in the river or be vaporized as by his own account, he was plucked right before he collapsed the place to flood it and stop the machine, so he'd have no choice but to still flood the place and probably drown. Sandman still wouldn't die because he never did in the first place. Lizard probably still wouldn't die, since he didn't die in the first place, assuming he wasn't plucked while he was climbing a building or underwater or anything. Electro would still die because he was plucked while he was inside of a live electrical grid, which, instead of overloading him, would just fry him from the inside out.

Whats funny and ironic is Strange used to be a doctor, trying to cure people, and really care about 1 life. Now he seems ungrounded, and consider himself "beyond" doctor talking like 1 life is not worth saving compared to multiverse. Whereas Spiderman, not a doctor, feels like 1 life saving really means a lot.

I get Peter feels like he's trying to do right. But in the grand scheme of things, he's just being selfish. What he wants by his standards and not the universe's. By doing that, it upsets the natural balance of reality. That becomes apparent when he tries to tamper with the amnesia spell. No matter what, he's still a kid at heart. So much to learn.

@@tizianotrasmondo6011 Not everything that happened was unpredictable. Peter already knew the villains were dangerous and that they hate Spider-Man since he just heard their stories of their past battles with their respective Spider-Men. It was obvious from the beginning that they can't be trusted and that they'll just attack and escape when he lets them out of their cells. And he was already concerned when Norman went to see May the first time (though she wasn't in any danger then), so he had every reason to suspect what might happen

@@tizianotrasmondo6011 But they still turned on Peter anyway and escaped, so they didn't let him cure them. In fact, Otto was only cured because Peter tied him up with his own tentacles and might have attacked otherwise. And to make things worse, Green Goblin killed May which wouldn't have happened if Peter hadn't trusted the villains in the first place. Green Goblin didn't exactly manipulate Max since even though he told him to keep his powers, Max made that decision himself because he didn't want to go back to his old life where he was bullied and neglected by his co-workers. The point is that Peter was foolish in his decision of trusting the villains to let him cure them since they're obviously too dangerous to be allowed to stay

They were originally supposed to have Multiverse of Madness take place before this movie. With that, Peter was supposed to be informed that Strange has experience with this sort of stuff. I actually wish that happened because when Strange explains how the villains' deaths are worthy of a multiversal sacrifice, he would've been more serious than that. Strange would have explained to Peter, Ned, MJ, and the villains that he would have told them about "incursions" based on what he learned in Multiverse of Madness. Strange would tell them all that the longer the visitors are in their world, the worlds they originate from will collide into the current one and can destroy one, some or all of those worlds together. And if Tom Hardy's Venom did show up in which he'd be here, Strange wouldn't just say that four Earths are in stake. Even though some of the people are from same universes, they were pulled from separate timelines. With that, multiple versions of the same Earths are being pulled. For the Raimiverse, it'd be four Earths. For Webbverse, it'd be three Earths. And we all know that'd it'd just be one for Eddie and Venom. So at this moment, eight Earths were being brought to the MCU's. Therefore, nine Earths total at this moment were in jeopardy. But of course, we don't know how many Earths total if more people throughout the multiverse came to this one. Strange would say that the villains going back to their universes to die is better than them dying with everyone else of all the other Earths.
