The aliens land near coastal cities, depending on their objective it would be either massive global invasion or localized strike to make a bridge-head on the planet, likely the America's would have the worst of it lot of countries with relatively small armies and slow mobilization capabilities and lots of coast, Europe would fare better mostly UK, Greece Spain and Italy would face the greater impact. Moving south Africa in general would face lot of trouble although there is alot of independent militias that could help the small standing armies around the continent. Middle East would be fine too much desert but decently big armies. Russia probs fine its unknown if how good these aliens deal with cold but judging by the dissecting scene having so much water inside on cold temps wouldn't be good. Asia Japan could see overwhelmed with threats all around but they got a capable modern army could even the field, China would be fine big coast but big af army aswell the south Asian states Malaysia Philippines etc would see trouble lots of places for the enemy to land and small not so well supplied armies. Inda would have to deal with several fronts but should be fine they got a decent armed force and lastly Australia new Zealand austria would find difficult to defend some parts of his territories but they also got a big desert as a shield to their backs, NZ would faces the worst of it.

we need to see what happens when the humans counterattack with air support and the aliens are uncoordinated and shocked. This means round 2 would be easier for the humans but that also leaves the question as to if the aliens did the same thing and got even more reinforcements. At the end of this movie you see roughly a company size of marines reinserting into los angeles from the hollywood side. With this being the case wed have to see how far the aliens made it, because they got considerably close if not past Dtla. If they got as far as dtla, the marines and army would have to cut through the main force in LA, just to get to cut them off from getting a considerably larger force getting past downtown. We need a sequel. This movie was a gem but has alot of unanswered questions.

I pretty much agree with your assessment. It would seem that there is a resource need for the extraterrestrials attacking invasion. The possibility that water might be the resource as it seem to be the extra terrestrial soldiers circulatory fluid, and as a fluid used in the drones. But that wouldn't make much sense in that there's a lot easier sources of water in our solar system that would require a armed attack, such as the Jovian moon Io. Pretty much the same goes for mineral resources to scatter around our Solar System's various asteroids and moons of the large planets. So my interest in this movie is, what was the premise for the extraterrestrials to conduct an attacking invasion ?

I agree, in most other alien films you just know we're gonna win and it's all just a big show. They lack the dread, the fear of the unknown and the desperation of facing and enemy that's literally threatening humanity's survival. This film managed to capture that feeling, specially when the alien drones got airborne and wiped out the air force. From the marines POV, it looked like they were alone, fighting a losing battle and help would never come. The other film that also got it right was the War of The Worlds, although the plot device used to win, as well as the alien's motives and actions were fairly dumb. But it was still scary to see how helpless both the civilians and the military were.

@@spectreagent00 I guess that's why I like them. By contrast, combat scenes feel over the top. I think that's because by the time the protagonists fight, they've already gained experience with whatever it is that caused the disaster, so the director takes liberties in turning them into superheroes, doing things that people wouldn't normally do. On the other hand, panic scenes feel more like something an ordinary person would go through, so they're more immersive and take you in.

This is one of the most interesting and unique movies to have ever come out. Yeah, alien invasion. Big whoop. But it's how they operate and the tone in which they do it. Almost as if the human race was fighting a reflection of themselves. They attacked a major coastal point through essentially an amphibious landing and created a beachhead for more forces. They systematically set up ambushes for counterattack efforts and pushed inland with a shock and awe tactic. Was shown to both drag the wounded away as well as having some kind of leadership structure. They even set up command and control points much like a human military. Their weapons didn't seem too crazy like other alien movies with lasers that wipe out entire cities or laser guns that instantly disintegrate whatever it hits. They don't seem too dissimilar from conventional human weapons but are still different enough. They also employ various weapons based on the situation, such as that heavy cannon thing on the bridge as well as drones as like a support and air superiority craft. They also seem to know when they've lost a fight, such as the final battle where the ragtag unit destroyed the command and control center and the aliens retreat.

I'm from Brazil, and love this movie so much, I bought the bluray. My favorite scenes it's on 5:33 in this cut, and the scene when Nants destroy the fly ship on gas station, that's really amazing

US Army Marines FTW Booyah! Sender Fido!

I know I sound like Karen, but it makes me upset on how alot of Americans can't tell the difference between military Branches. Brother did one tour in Afghanistan and when he came home from his first deployment he told me Americans don't know anything about their own military. He was in the Marines in his uniform and Civilians would thanks for serving in the Army like wtf?
@RGInquisitor11 ай бұрын
@@raven1462 Average citizens have no knowledge of units or uniforms and other things that are trivial to them and important to others. The same way they see a hospital worker in scrubs and assume they're a nurse. There's nothing wrong with it, really. You can't expect someone to be knowledgeable of all things.

Of all the planets in the universe, the aliens chose to invade a world inhabited by the most dangerous species on the planet, they should have thought better of it...
@blackfox744811 ай бұрын
Consdiering this aliens depend on water, i guess they didn't find any other water planet similar to earth xd Also as far i am aware, these aliens were exiled from their planet as they lost a civil war, so i guess they were desperate as well

We always kick any aliens ass, because we’re all that. It makes the movie suck. I know we’re full of our selves, but come on.
@commandercritic903611 ай бұрын
To be entirely fair, 3/4’s of the movie was the US Army getting its S*#@ kicked in, before the tide was finally turned, and on that Note, the aliens are not hugely more advanced than us in the movie. They do have better technology yes, but they use it in much the same way we do, they are a superior force, but not so much that with careful planning it cannot be overcome. When it comes to that kind of enemy, inertia is key, if the aliens could keep up their momentum and prevent humanity from regrouping and reorganising, they’ll hold the upper hand. But as soon as a weakness is found, that weakness WILL be exploited, which is exactly what happens in the movie.

I mean, this is as real as we can get on alien invasion. Their tech is similar to ours although more crude in origin, they have no shield and can be killed, like us humans.

This REALLY needs a sequel. Like, 13 years of back and forth warfare, but the aliens can't move too far inland because of their water needs, giving us an untouchable production core and we whoop em
@Kriscuit_Bonkin26 күн бұрын
Yes for sure. It makes me think of a ww1-esque battle ground. Los Angeles (maybe San Diego and San Francisco) is nuked or bombed (no point in taking back a destroyed city with a heavily entrenched enemies) Paris is successfully taken back London has a perimeter preventing further advancement Hong Kong is nuked (no point in taking it as the island is impossible to take back) Japan set ups a perimeter around Tokyo preventing further advancement as well Moscow is successfully taken back with causalities similar to Stalingrad Other countries that weren’t part of the initial attack possibly push back smaller invading forces like Germany and Jordan. Leads to a stalemate Maybe more advanced aliens waves come to turn the tide Drafts, refugees, trenches, POW aliens, technology recovered, geopolitics change, war amongst humans could rise as humans fight over resources to combat attacks in their own country.
