I recently got married too & this song hits me right in the feels. The struggles... Life was easier with my mom. I miss every bit of moment with my mom, even though we don't have the best relationship. It's kind of funny how you only hear other people's stories, thinking it would be easy on you, but I guess you really have to go thru it to really understand the true emotion of it. Pakou, your beautiful sad song is making me literally crying at work. 😭 I'm not married yet but I can really feel the words and emotions. Three months ago I was so close to probably making the worse decision of my life. My parents may not be the ideal type of guardians but they love me unconditionally and did their best to raise us. I was in an interracial relationship and I was trying so hard to get the guy to like my parents. I turned a blind eye to all the red flags that he is because I was too blind trying to prove my ideals of love and because I believed he "loved " me. He always disliked my parents and pressured me to leave my parents just because he dont understand our cultural beliefs and values. I so grateful he left my life. My parents are my world and I want to stay with them forever until it is their time. 1000x him could never compare to my parents.

my son was married this past weekend and this song was played during my daughter-in-law and her father dance.. this song and the dance between father and daughter will forever be separated forever, there's was tears among all the guest that attended their wedding reception that weekend...these tears were tears of happiness and a little bitter sweet for the nyab, but i'll love you and treat you with much love and respect my nyab unlike the old hmong men that chores are all upon you.. your duties is to love each other, work hard to give your kids a better future than what we could given you.. her dad may have lost a great loving daughter, but i gained a beautiful loving daughter as well... i hoped that you'll be each others partners, friends and shoulders to cried upon regardless if it's happiness or sadness, be there for one another til the end of time... never forget how much you two went and fought so hard for to love one another, the endless tears and restless nights that you worked so hard to hold onto... life may have it;s ups and down, but the love, respect, honesty, and communication will overcome anything.
