USA dart player here, what a great Final I think Peter would have won it sooner than he did. I watched the hole match live stream. I'm going to keep this as clean as I can, but the jakeoff that was whistling when Peter was shooting his out in the 7th, 8th & 9th sets needed his whistler removed. I was pissed and if I would had been there I sure would have let him know how I felt. The ref should have called that to order.

I wanted Smith to win, he was brilliant all throughout this tournament, but you have hand it to Wright, he was down 4-5 (0-2) and played his best darts from that point on.

Like you, I wanted Smith to win but Wright is a decent person and a worthy champion. I feel that Smith just achieving one finish of over a ton (if that stat is right) is significant, he wasn't stealing legs often enough.That spell of losing eight legs successively was partly down to Wright but also partly down to Smith not quite being consistent enough, his average wasn't too bad during it but the distribution of scores was too extreme or untimely in the legs. I really hope he wins it one day. The prize money in the tournament is incredible, especially when you consider how poor darts prize money was many years ago.

I know there's been a lot of criticism in the past of Smith bottling it but those last 2 sets he averaged well over 100 and simply got outplayed for 2 sets. Definitely didn't bottle it today and kept his form all the way so you have to applaud him for that 👏 well done Wright for finding the extra in the end to win

Yeah he didn't bottle it, bottling it would be if he'd gone 6-4 up and had match darts but blown it. As it stands, he did all he could but just got beaten by the better player. It's very hard to argue Wright didn't deserve it after that run he went on when he was 5-4 and 2-0 down.

He didn’t bottle it, but even if he had - a lot of great champions in a lot of different sports were known as bottlers at one stage or another. Roger Federer comes to mind…everyone was calling him a choker in 2001/2002 - then he broke through in 2003 and became unbeatable. Smith has plenty of time left and will be a multi world champion.

Smith didn't bottle it, Wright just hit an insane patch of form JUST at the right time when he was 5-4 down in sets and 2-0 down in set 10. From then on he was exceptional, if Michael could have won set 10 and taken his lead to 6-4 it's a totally different game. Key thing now is he doesn't let his head drop and he uses this to push on and win a big tv tournament, I think once he wins one it will open the floodgates for him.

amazing match. congrats to PW for his second title. i feel for Michael as he played superb and at 5-4 up was looking likely. top class comeback and great back and forth until the final set when smith looked beaten. crowd was absolutely atrocious again. its embarrassing a former world champion gets booed at all and this booing missed darts for 9 dart attempts is just ridiculous. worst crowd i've ever seen all tourney long. the dickheads booing steve beaton against sherrock should be banned for life. anyways, i turned the sound off and enjoyed a wonderful game. high quality tournament all the way through. smith must break through one of these years and wright is just brilliant. i will say its a travesty that MVG got sent home but wright fully deserves this title.

Wright seemed to be unbeatable during this tournament. He can achieve super level under pressure and when opponents are starting to make mistakes in later phases of the match, he starts playing his best darts. Amazing player. To tell you the truth I had a hope that Rydz will win it. He played so fantastic darts during this tournament. So fast and accurate. He just lost it during the final phases of the match with Wright. I think if he won with Wright he would be the world champion now. The real black horse of this tournament

As a Scot I wanted Peter to win but a shame for Smith who up until the last set forced him all the way. Peter just had what all champions have which is the ability to dig it out when on the ropes. THAT tenth set was a massive kick in the balls to Smith and he never really recovered. But Peter absolutely motored on from there he was unplayable. Smith was clearly a broken man in the last set but when a champion is playing at his height then nothing you can do. I do think Michael's time will come just like Peter's did. As for the crowd Get it right up yous.🖕

I watched the match on tele, and although this was by far not the best final ever I did enjoy the match very much. Peter Wright closing in on Price on the merit of order, only 50K difference, can't wait for Wright to take over. Next week Q school, and not long after that the Premier League. Price, Wright, Van Gerwen, Wade, Smith, Anderson and Clayton are more or less sure to participate I think. Who do you guys think will be the other participants ? VD Bergh or De Sousa or Rydz or Cross or somebody else ?
