Daisy might have been my introduction into Pentagon but Do or Not was the song to make me a Universe and I never could figure out why. I'm rewatching their videos now that I have their names down and I think I've figured it out. Complete choas! Mixed with the fact that the line distribution is really well done and everyone has their time to shine with the subunits throughout the choreography. 2:20 onward after Hongseok's solo is just everything. Shinwon's jump, Yuto in the back corner, Hongseok's hopping dance, Yeo One and Shinwon copying each other (and Yeo One having the awareness to pick up the bracelet that Yanan dropped), whatever Hongseok is doing facing the wall, Yuto giving up and just jumping, Kino, Yanan, and Wooseok being so smooth. And then everyone coming together again to end the song. I absolutely love these dorks 💙

Why are Pentagon underrated you ask? I will try and answer this without offending any other groups because I am a multifan (with Pentagon being my ult group) Pentagon's biggest strength is freedom and creativity. Their music has a sense of personality and genuineness because it means something to them. They make their own music and are so hands on with everything. Pentagon do things in their own way and are always thinking outside of the box. I mean, come on.. they even have playful diss tracks about themselves on their albums! Here's where the problem lies - Because of Pentagon's uniqueness, they don't fit the typical idol image (stupid smh) A lot of groups nowadays only focus on singing, dancing and visuals. Being charismatic or whatever without any distinct qualities they can profess that this is them and no one else. They're all doing the same thing and aiming for the same perfect ideal k-pop standard with almost similar sounds and choreography that somebody else has made for them. Where is their own stamp? Everything seems to come down to how attractive groups/members are or how famous their sunbaes and companies are. Most of the time, bigger companies rake in the wins regardless of the quality or uniqueness or the song. K-pop is stuck in a robotic pattern at the moment and Pentagon is amongst the few exceptions. This is why I stan self producing groups and idols. Their music is coming from them personally, you can hear their own personalities and stories in their songs. I don't mean to offend anybody by this comment, because I am a multifan and I have respect to all hardworking idols! But I am absolutely exhausted of groups like Pentagon being slept on when their creativity and skill goes above and beyond. Pentagon aren't handed their music on the day of recording, they compose, write and produce it themselves and they're always willing to take risks musically. They're not afraid to be different. Pentagon are also the most humble and positive humans. They received some hate by other fandoms during RTK (which I won't go into right now), but in a nutshell, they were rudely being told to retire and give-up. And what was Pentagon's response? They ignored such comments, carried on working hard and had their first music bank win later that year! (oh and also an AAA win!) After 4 years, Pentagon don't know the meaning of 'give-up'. Like Jinho said, if they remain patient and positive results will follow, everyone is on their own timeline. In summary: Pentagon aren't just you're average k-pop group - They are artists. And people need to stop sleeping on talent. If you made it to the end of this rant - Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk 😂 x
