LOL so my sister recently use to live in Shawnee Kansas and when I went to visit her I had the same confusion. Here is what I found out. Kansas borders Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri is about 20 mins from Shawnee Kansas border so basically the 2 states are 1 big city. Sort of like how Buffalo, New York is so close to Toronto.
