Maltin has serious cred as a film critic. He's been on the beat for decades and a lot of this is his style, which hasn't caught up with the current rapid-fire approach to interviewing. I respectfully disagree (11:58). A guy like Brad Pitt gives a lot more than just his performance as an actor. So does Will Smith. Because movies take so long to make, they have to go out there and find other ways to share with their fans. Of course there's a time and a place for everything and once they're off duty, they're on their own and shouldn't be disturbed. But Brad himself loves to play, gets on TV all the time, has fun with people on the street, even making jokes and interacting with people. At least one famous time when he pretended to wait in line for a movie theater with people and faked being abducted in a van by guys. And he's there onstage giving his heart out.

Maltin oddly seemed intimated, despite his many decades working in film. Pitt’s rarely a great interview, aside from his Charlie Rose spot in New York for “Troy” years ago (just not the brightest guy on earth). And that audience is too drunk on Pitt’s fame & aura to allow an intimate enough setting for an adult discussion.
@kevinw7124 жыл бұрын

@jabrakoma4 жыл бұрын
Yeah im wondering too.
@kevinw7124 жыл бұрын
They had a fantastic time making all three, but O12 is widely considered the weakest of the trilogy. Not that it's an objectively bad movie, but looking at it just in the context of that franchise, it's on the low end. It was a bit rushed to be developed after the hit the first one was, the studio just took an long existing screenplay out of storage about two thieves trying to one-up each other and wanted to make the sequel from it, so it got altered enough to make one side of that battle became the entire Ocean's team. I'm sure they're all still proud of it, but something's just kinda... "off" about it. They put a lot more attention and consideration in closing out the trilogy in a worthy way, the script that was used for O13 was commissioned for that purpose, and it was received critically closer to how 11 was.
