I wish more parents and coaches would watch these videos. At times I second guess my calls, but the more I watch your videos the more confident I am in knowing that I'm making the correct calls when I see them.

Patience whistle is the key instead of blowing more whistles…

One takeaway for me: look for LGP earlier. LIke play #5, I thought "ok, blocking foul, but play on". Same with play #1. So much to learn.

Play 1, initially I'm not going to blow a 3 on none scoring opportunity dead on that foul. However, seeing that player potentially being injured I would consider it unnecessary & excessive for a flagrant.

I don't think there was anything worthy of a flagrant foul on play #1, just a player going for a loose ball. But contact that deserves a foul none the less. Thanks for watching.

The foul on play 2 is after the defender fell to his knees

Possibly. The clip is specifically looking at the contact on the dribbler, however. Thanks for watching.

Plays #4 & #5 the calling officials were out of position to see through the play.

Hi Josh, Thanks again for the videos. Quick question, why would play #5 not be considered player control on the offense? Did he create contact on the defender, displacing him and granting himself an offensive advantage? Help me understand why its legal play. I definitely want to get these calls right. Thanks so much. - Heather

It could be player control, if you follow the rule exactly, but I think you would be better off having a no call on this as the the affect on the play was minimal. But....it is NOT a block.

Can you please describe which foul these are?
@OfficialsInstitute2 жыл бұрын
There was no foul to call on any of these but play #1. You can call a push or block.
