The ending has to be one of the most satisfying things ever in a piece of music. Something about the buildup in the last few minutes feels like I’m holding on for dear life until the release hits and I can finally catch a breath. I’m truly upset that I waited this long to get into this band.

I choose to believe it's a reference to the song "Frankie Teardrop" by Suicide.. When I first looked at the actual lyrics it was the very first thing that popped into my head.
@svp6055 Жыл бұрын
most likely about Frankie Machine since theres heavy drug mentions, I thought of Suicide's self-titled too at first but it seems a bit of a stretch imo since there's no connection I can see in the lyrics other than sharing the name Frankie (great song though, those screams will always haunt me)
@diegosebastian2226 Жыл бұрын
@@svp6055 Gira has said that he used to listen to Suicide a lot and was a key inspiration for Swans' early days. While it might be a stretch, there is no doubt a connection, perhaps subconscious influence from exposure.

I saw a live performance of this on KZbin, and at the end of the song Michael said this song was dedicated to “the beautiful thurston moore and his beautiful friends “ could Frankie m be connected to thurston and sonic youth? Maybe Michael and thurstons work with glen brancha? Or possibly early early swans? I’m super curious on this one
