Yes, but he shows poor judgement as a teacher and is a catastrophe of a deputy head. He can't put feelings aside and doesn't foresee the potentially negative effects of his actions: he's misleading that girl into believing he is the solution to her problems. Maybe he had some dad issues in his personal life too, he needed to show that kind of affection and to be loved as well, but you can't use your profession to sort your private problems out.

i have 1 problem with Waterloo road and its that some characters go missing with no explanation for example Mika was gone for 5 episodes before tom said she'd gone to uni. Jasmine Koreshi and Matt Wilding both disappeared at the end of series 5.

What I don't get is, why didn't Scout just take Liam to the school creche (I know I've likely spelt that wrong.) Her Mum gets her to stay a few mins longer in the morning coz the school is close by, so surely that would've been the safest choice rather than to leave Liam alone. I know it was for drama's sake, but still, could've easily been avoided. :/
