I'm betting Doc tried to squeeze a shit tonne of money from Twitch after he signed his contract and probably doubled-down on demanding more even though his contract was already set. The power of being the biggest streamer got to his head and Twitch decided that he had to be shut down.

Here is the problem with the plattform deal, and why I think ninja is super happy he got out of it. Sure 30 million over 5 years is a lot of money, but what people forget to look at is how much money he lost going to mixer. His viewership, and by that probably also his monthly subs, went down 90%. That also makes him a lot less attractive for sponsorship deals. With 50k viewers you get a lot more opportunities, and they are way more lucrative, then what you get for 5k viewers. That is the nature of the business. Do you really think he would have gotten a superbowl commercial with 5k viewer average ? On the other hand, the 30 million are guaranteed, and ninja was already on the way down. In 2018 he had about 200.000 subscribers, take that times 3.5 and you know how much he made a month. it is estimated he was down to 30.000- 50.000 subs in 2019. Sure his youtube stream the other day had 100k, but that was since it became big news everywhere on social media. How much can he still draw on the regular ? Last but not least let us look at twitchs position. Ninja gave them a very good case to offer streamers A LOT less then other plattforms. All they have to do is say : look at ninja, he lost 90% of his income when he left. Look at your monthly income over the length of the contract, if they pay you 90% of your monthly salary for each month of the contract to go on their plattform, they are still only offering you the same deal we do, and here you have way more clout and influence.

@@crunch9876 Where am I talking about a potential increase ? I take what he actually made, and how much less he made on mixer, we are talking 90% less. What is hard to answer is how much less he got from sponsorshop deals and how much worse the offers where. One of the few people who talked openly about sponsorship deals was disguised toast in a video, and it was more then subs, donations and add revenue combined. Now as for the guaranteed money in 2018 ninja was at 200k subs, which means 700k monthly from subs alone, if we assume another 700k from sponsorship we have 1.4 million monthly. Lose 90% of that because you switch plattforms and suddenly 30 million over 5 years looks quite shitty. But we know ninja was no longer that big in 2019, but it is still possible that he lost money by going to mixer..

@@benjaminshields9421 At no point did I blame ninja for the 90% in loss in viewership. That is why i said he was also losing money by going to mixer. You also do not understand ho these deals work. He does not get simply a cheque over 30 mil, he gets that money slowly over 5 years, and it might not even all be guaranteed. Often contracts like that are partially guaranteed, and partially bound to bonuses for achieving monthly, quarterly or yearly goals.

I am sure Dr knows why and was contacted... Twitch was clear in the past that it is not on them to release the reason for bans and there is a history of streamers lying why they got banned. Twitch is right in making it the issue of the streamer to decide if the reason should be public or not. So this whole thing on twitter can stop.. Dr. Has to tell the truth or decide that it is private. But I guess it is easier to say "I don't know" than to say:" I don't want you to know"

The Dr. Disrespect situation is so weird. Everything did point to something really bad and then yesterday we got that video, basically showing his return. But if he returns that means it wasn’t something really bad? Which means it is a contract thing? But why would a contract thing be so extremely secretive?

I believe twitch offered him 25 million dollars before mixer was shut down to keep doc on the platform but after mixer shut down, twitch had no competition left but they didnt want to pay him the money so they banned him. This speculation or theory was the most logical one to me since almost every other ban so far was explained publicly and anything worse than those bans would be a legal thing probably which doesnt seem true

I honestly believe... well speculate. Twitch is getting fire from mainstream, like DMCA hard core. Twitch is breaking into mainstream hard now, especially during quarantine. Twitch has always been looked down on over other social platforms because of user numbers. But if you look at how it compares to FB and youtube Gaming. Twitch dominates the streaming market. The consistent spike in viewership with low cost, compared to just streaming platforms in general probably shook the economics of things. Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney, all of those platforms invest a great amount, but with Covid curbing them harder than the revenue gain. At least in %. Twitch probably saw incredible numbers, and in the backroom economics probably put a huge target on them. That is why I think DMCA came storming in. This leads into why DrDisrespect got banned, refunded, and made invisible. He was probably paid to do it by twitch. They probably had a good long talk with him. He is after playing a character, it isn't actually who he is. Don't know to much about him, but he seems intelligent enough to know he is just acting and there are limits to how far he goes. If some one like him is on the twitch, plenty of people can use him as an easy target to stain twitch. With the mainstream eyes on twitch, they obviously want to come out on top and become a big mainstream thing. It is probably easier to avoid that. It's pretty hard to convince investors and people out of the loop that he is only a character not what twitch represents. I know there are plenty of other streamers who are actually worst toxic, and breeds a super toxic community. How ever those might not be as big of a channel and might see something similar happen to them or even made an example of in the future. This could also be why Doc disappeared, twitch didn't want to use him as a example. Maybe he agreed on twitch's plan. Maybe twitch will let him come back after both he finishes the amazon thing, and twitch does it's quiet reformation to being mainstream. This is all speculation though.

I reckon its really simple. Dr Disrespect tried to bargain hard with Twitch and doubled down and gave them an ultimatum to increase his contract and pay him more. He probably was like "Yeah i know ive signed the contract already but I'm your biggest streamer and I want more otherwise I'm not streaming". Twitch was like, "you've already signed a contract, you can't bargain anymore" but Dr refused to step down so Twitch was like "whatever, we'll cut you off then, let's see how much power you really have".

Stream Platforms war about exclusives makes it clear to me how they do not get the principle of streaming at all. It is and was never about a platform having specific streamers for the platform to be attractive. Sure big streamers have Fans and a big core community who will follow the streamer to any platform but the core is the platform itself. The combination of twitch prime, free games, UI and most improtantly: The Chat is what makes twitch be twitch. KZbin is legitimately the only platform even close to be an alternative to twitch to me. I don’t really mind watching KZbin streams whereas Mixer and especially Facebook are/were almost unbearable to use. If I cant use the chat I might as well just watch VODs or Highlights on KZbin rather than watching the stream...
